Steam achievements with Friend's Pass?

I had spoken with an EA representative during a live chat recently; however, I wasn't able to find a solution to my question...

Basically, my friend purchased the full game and invited me to play, meaning I got the Friend's Pass (note: Steam version/platform). We both went through the game together and Steam achievements were being obtained on their end while I couldn't get any being that I had the Friend's Pass. I believe that if I had bought it during any point of the playthrough, I most likely would've unlocked those same achievements but I never ended up doing so.

At this point, we've completed the game and uninstalled it (for storage purposes). I'd like to buy the full game but the concern and question I've been wondering is would I be able to get any of the achievements I should have gotten during my first playthrough WITHOUT playing the entire game again? Would the game/Steam recognize that I've played 17 hours of the game and still give me 20 out of 20 achievements? I'm mainly concerned about how we both have it uninstalled, so me buying the game would not pick up my progress from them/myself.

If anyone could answer with their experience, it'd be greatly appreciated as I'd like to buy the game on Steam during the sale, solely for the purpose of wanting to transfer Friend's Pass progress I got/should've earned through achievements and possibly hours keeping in mind that my Pass is uninstalled, and the host's game is uninstalled as well.

  • @MochiCheI I don't know about whether the achievements carry over or not - I would assume they do not, myself - but in the worst case scenario you can just use the Steam Achievement Manager tool to force them to unlock manually.

I would note I think technically it's against Steam TOS? But everyone I've heard of using it, myself included, has never had an issue and I've never heard of issues with it. Just try not to open it while you have a Steam game open.
