Thoughts on the Immortals of Aveum....

I will admit at this time that I haven't gotten very far yet in the game.  Just managed to get pass what I consider the "intro" section and have joined the group.

My thoughts so far:

1)  The game is pretty, the set pieces, magic, enemies, characters, and monsters are all very nice looking.  The game just seems a visual feast.  We will have to see if this continues or if it gets stale later, but so far, I have been impressed with the graphics.

2)  Sound tract so far is good.  To me the background music should enhance what is going on in the game, and so far, it has been doing it well, and has been enjoyable to listen to.  I have found myself just pausing sometimes to listen to the music playing in the background.

3)  Combat so far is fun, will have to see how it feels later or if it gets stale, but so far a magic shooter seems a fair description.  So far the magic is interesting and the "heavy skills" add an extra dimension  to combat much like heavy weapons do in shooters.  It is early, so it could get repetitive but so far, it is a fun concept and play style.

4)  Difficulty.  I am on the "normal" difficulty or the balanced one and so far it is a bit easy.  I don't want to jump up a difficulty level yet due to it being EARLY and barely out of the "intro" section.  I hope it steps up in difficulty without having to change the setting, but only time will tell.  So far the game has fed plenty of health and mana power-ups, almost too many, but again this is EARLY so this could change at any moment once I am fully into the game, I shall have to wait and see.

So after about 3 hours of play, I find the game well worth purchase, and hope that it continues to be so as I continue into the game.

Now does anyone who has played more have any thoughts they wish to share??  I will post more as I slowly work through the game.

@Thijminecraft02 Considering that a 1050TI is 3 generations old, and mid tier level, I am not surprised that the graphics make performance lacking.  This is a fairly high end requirement game, and old hardware will not handle it well.

Well, I have finished the game, and my thoughts are this.  It was a fun story, kept me engaged until the end, but a bit short....finished it in about 11 hours.  I personally don't have much interest in continuing the hunt for treasures and such after the game is over, because there really doesn't seem to be a point to it.  Finding new gear, and stuff, really doesn't seem to hold me to fight a few bosses AFTER completing the story.

Combat was getting a bit repetitious by the end of the game, with the rock paper scissors system of combat.  I kept hoping for a bit more variety.....this is one reason first person shooters usually get stale for me and dropped.  Enemies often got spongy, and were more a time sink instead of really being hard on the normal difficulty.   There were only so many different ways to shoot red, blue, and green energy to kill the red, blue and green enemies....  Kept having Mass Effect 3 endings flashbacks.....

All in all, it is a fun and pretty game, a decent play, and fun to romp for 10-20 hours of play.  Nothing ground breaking, but solid game.  I could see potential for a bigger or better game, but then it could easily end up a real train wreck if it was expanded too much as well, so keeping it tight and limited wasn't a bad idea.

    7/10

  • I had finally completed the main story in Immortals of Aveum and I got to say that I had a decent amount of fun playing this game. 🙂

I played the game at Immortal difficulty (Hard difficulty) right from the beginning to the end. For me at least, the game still isn't that hard at Immortal difficulty with the right equipment and talents.

Basically, I find some equipment and talents to be quite overpowered together such as the Perfect Shield talent that grants 1 second invincibility to any kind of attacks like boss attacks and the lash & red magic combo (which is lashing an enemy closer to you and then headshotting using red magic). But there's no multiplayer in this game, so any kind of imbalance is ok when all enemies are AIs. lol

The story kept me engaged to the game when I do like stories in video games. 😃

There are quite a number of times when I thought the main story is gonna end at a certain point, but the main story still continued and surprised me in the process. lol

The main story isn't exactly a comedy story, but there were dialogues in the story that were kinda funny.

As with all single-player games unfortunately, Immortals of Aveum has no replay value. After I completed the main story (and tried to find the remaining Shroudfanes and Golden Chests), I have no incentive to play the game anymore.

Immortals of Aveum is a fun game. It is a shame that it released in between big game releases like Baldur's Gate 3, Armored Core 6, and Starfield and it resulted in Immortals of Aveum being overlooked by the general public.

    @buffett78 I am confused......

You saw a trailer, it looked bad, so you didn't buy it I assume, and yet you say playing is torture in your opinion....If you did buy or DL it on some sort of game pass, WHY??  You didn't like the trailer, thus that should be it, done, no more worries....If you didn't play it, why comment on the game play??

The game was fun to me for the time I played it, mind you that was just under 12 hours to complete the story.  I MAY go back and play it again sometime in the future, but not for now.  I just don't see the point of playing something that I don't think will be fun, which is one reason I skip many games that are released, because I watch the trailer and go "NOPE!!"  Now I am going to play Star Field or MP play Balder's Gate 3 with my son, as I like games that are can take hundreds of hours to play.

@mcsupersport well at least sm1 liked it, game is doa, just look at twitch stats... but from experince in trailer it looked bad, and its requirements are insane, its like anthem... and starfield is in the same boat a rushed, empty mess

@buffett78Yeah I watched a few streams and reviews and it doesn't really look that interesting. Common complaints are about bad writing and performance even on good PCs so with that it's probably another one of those modern games that i'll pick up when they are on sale for $5 when I have nothing better to do after it gets patched enough.

  • Fun game. 100% not a RPG, incase anyone thought it might be. Have been playing on easy difficulty for a fun/relaxing experience and it’s mostly been that — until the end game boss battle and some of the random bosses hidden in extra-dimensional spaces, where the difficulty seems to shoot up to hard/extreme for no real reason. It’s a night and day difference between fighting the Hand and Sandrakk. But since there’s no replayability with this game, I think I’m done here. 4/10 for inconsistent leveling. 👎🏼
