To reply, and I apologize for not troubleshooting that aspect myself, I can join online sessions. It has only been the visiting hunters requesting assistance that leads to the issues that I've described.I thought it might have been a story progression issue, maybe, so tried again, purposely chose a player who was on a hunt in CH5, which is close -ish to where I am. I don't know if it was true of every other instance, but this time, the player icon was at each one of their camps -they were not there, nor where the kemono was.
Hi @TC0013 Thanks for these updates, When you have a moment can we try the following if you have not so far?
- Clear the systems cache (Close the game completely > Turn off the console > Wait 30-60 seconds > Restart and Relaunch)
- Verify you signed into your PSN account
- Check for updates
- Restore Licence
- Try the steps in our Connection and Advance Connection Guides
- Open your PS5 NAT Type
- Change DNS settings (You can use the public Google DNS primary: 8.8.8.8, secondary: 8.8.4.4, unless there is a different DNS you would rather use)
- Entering Safe Mode and Rebuild your PS database

Thanks for the reply. I'm signed in to the PSN network, my EA account is active, I'm connected via LAN, download speeds vary between 750Mbps and 880, upload is slower. The PS5 software is up to date, the Wild Hearts game is updated, I cleared the cache, rebuilt the database., restored licenses, changed the DNS settings. For now, until I set up port forwarding on the router, the PS5 is set on NAT2 -I need to grab a new router to set up port forwarding.. That said, so far, no change. When I say I see the other player's icon on the map, I mean the stylized bead/jar/bee's nest, the tan icon vs a colored arrow.

@TC0013 I wanted to check if this is still happening after the latest patch?- 3 years ago
Apologies for not updating sooner. I grabbed another router -lower specs for download speeds, boo. But does allow for port mapping/forwarding. So far, w/ forwarding to the Playstation network ports and static IP set both on router via DHCP and on PS5 via network settings, no change. That said, w/ the forwarding rules set, the NAT type for the PS5 is still showing as type 2. I spent a good chunk of time tweaking PS5 IP, changing TCP, UDP rules to 'both,' managed to get NAT to come up as 'failed on the PS5, but this made no difference to the 'assist visiting hunter' missions.' I did double-check privacy settings on the PS5 to confirm that I hadn't overlooked anything simple that would stop crossplay from working, ditto in Wild Hearts settings. No to both. I still have no way to confirm that this is a crossplay issue. Am considering picking up the PC version of the game to see if I have the same issue, but this seems a bit silly.
