Can't install Sims 4 through EA Connect. Demands gamepass subscription.

I bought the Sims 4 plus a bunch of expansion packs via the origin site and 2 packs via EA connect desktop app. I wanted to download and install through the desktop app, but it says i would have to link my microsoft account and that i couldn't play or update the game without a valid gamepass subscription. I had a gamepass subscription some time ago, but why would i need it for a game i bought through EA? In EA Connect the microsoft account wasn't even linked (only through EA account, though i have unlinked it meanwhile).

  • Hey @MaiJune,

Thanks for your visit to the forums!

What unfortunate to hear that you're having issues with launching The Sims 4 via the EA Desktop app, while you actually say that you own the standalone game + some DLCs.

It can sometimes indeed happen that these kinds of issues arise when you connect and disconnect your accounts within a short period of time and that the Xbox Game Pass for PC + EA Play overrides the games that you already own standalone. The best thing you can do in this case is checking with our Live Support team to see if your account is in good condition and that it did not disable anything, just to be sure. You can reach them via https://help.ea.com/contact-us.

In the meantime; can you try to download/install/login Origin (if you don't have that installed already) to see if you are able to download/install/launch the game as normal? (Because then it should bypass the Xbox + EA Play membership you had.)

@MaiJune Yeah in that case you'll have to speak to our support team via the link that Leeuw provided.

They'll be able to do some magic in the background to get it sorted.

Please reach out and let us know how it went 🙂
