Re: How do i access EA PLAY on PC with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PLEASE HELP!

On the Microsoft FAQ link: https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/subscriptions-billing/manage-subscriptions/ea-play-with-xbox-game-pass-FAQ

They state in the 2nd question that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can enjoy EA Play on console now. Coming soon, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC members will receive EA Play on PC at no additional cost.

Also, in all their other posts they use future tense. "You'll need to create", "You'll have access" etc.

I was also tricked by this, because I expected EA Play to be available on PC, with the Ultimate, and clearly it isn't. Let's also mention that the Microsoft support page is just atrocious, informaiton is hard to find, and in a true Microsoft fashion, the found information is often useless.

And a big D- for both EA and Microsoft for not communicating about this matter openly. This thing should not be this difficult to find out and understand.

  • So am I correct in thinking then that having game pass on pc DOES NOT allow me to use the EA games for free as it would on my xbox?~

This is a real shower of excrement if so. I was looking forward to some VR squadrons. Might as well install the EA hub bloatware then....

It is now! Since like an hour ago. Check again!  I have downloaded Fifa20, Jedi Fallen Order and Squadrons.

I'm now looking forward to cross play with my son in the xbox and I will be playing in the PC.  Let's see how it goes.

  • @allanrcmThank you, I’ll check in the morning. Every one I tried to download through pc game pass it’d open the game in the EA app but keep presenting paid optionS.

    Appreciate the reply

Same. My accounts are linked and i have ultimate gamepass but it wants 3.99 a month from me still.......    once upon a time i did pay for origin on this same account..... anyone else who's having issues?

  • I have the same issue... Maybe there is a bug or something?

  • Mine is now working. I logged in to Origin then logged out and uninstalled that from my pc, I logged in to ea website and again checked my accounts were linked and they were, so then I just rebooted my pc and it’s happy now!

  • It doesn't work for me. I did as you say and it is still the same.

I am using different account for Microsoft Store and different for Xbox, maybe this can be the issue?

  • @remlu01 Okaay... It was different accounts issue that I am using. I have logged to Xbox using my Microsoft Store account and it now works.
  • I'm in the UK and I've tried everything to get this to work on the Xbox Windows 10 app. My accounts are linked correctly according to both EA and Microsoft but the Xbox PC app still asks to download the EA desktop app every time. Clicking to download just tells me that it can't download and to do so manually myself instead. I did this but the EA app asks me to pay 3.99 for a subscription before I can download a game. Going back to the Xbox PC app just asks me to download the EA app again!

I have tried restarting one app then the other, restarting only the Xbox PC app, restarting only the EA app and even rebooting my PC twice and then uninstalling the EA app altogether and I am still no further forward!

I don't have an Xbox now, only a PC and I have been using Game Pass for Windows for quite a while without problems until now. The only thing I can think of is that I also have a linked account for EA with Steam...could that be causing problems? My sub with Steam expires in a few days (I currently have no EA games installed) so thought I would be able to switch over to Game Pass with no problems.

    *EDIT*

Right, I don't know quite what I've done but I now have it working. I closed the EA app completely using task manager after signing out. I also signed out of the account through the web browser. Confirmed on the Xbox app that account was still linked (though clicking install on any EA game just tells me again to download the EA app which it won't do, of course). Opened the EA app once more and this time instead of logging in with email, I chose to log in with EA ID instead. The app then crashed (!) then restarted, then crashed again (!!) then finally restarted and now says that I have EA Play membership with Game Pass!!!

The Xbox app still demands that I download the EA app so I don't even bother clicking anything in there now as long as the EA app works 🙌
