Additional/Changes to Qualifying Modes

Having played some 35% races, I really like the new dynamic it gives to the game and it's a nice fresh addition for times when 50% races feel too long. With this additional format, I'd quite like to see some potential changes to qualifying as well, which would mainly benefit online play.

It is extremely rare that the full qualifying knockout format is used in online races which I feel is a waste when the format is so exciting in real life. Short qualifying is very samey and there's not usually that much variety. Offline I'll always use the full Q1, Q2 and Q3 format, mainly because I can fast forward through the session and it makes it feel as immersive as possible. I think some kind of shortened knockout format would be a great addition to the game, and whether it's two-player career, online leagues, or just custom lobbies with friends it could mix things up and make it more exciting and unpredictable to play.

Something along the lines of 3 6-minute sessions, players and AI able to get 1/2 laps in to try and make it through to the next part of qualifying would give action throughout the whole session and would be a cool addition I'd love to see.

I'm really enjoying the new game, and even though there are some bugs that need to be addressed first and as quickly as possible such as the red flags and the two-player career tyre glitch before features like this are discussed properly, I think this would be a great feature to see in the future.

  • I would like to add that we should get a chance to drive around for more than 1one lap in quali. I find it quite limiting I have to box after each fast lap.

It would also give game the opportunity to penalise us for not moving out of way for other cars 😉

Another option would be to implement Formula E quali format 😉
