It keeps happening, I have tried this, also from another psn account and starting a new career mode.
It is definitely an oversight during the Ricciardo update...you can see from the suit decal files. The locations of multiple decals were moved to accommodate Ricciardo's name and number but the generic player suit clearly wasn't given the new decal location mapping.
