The other 10% or less attempts it will work as it should, but I'm not sure why because nothing has changed (since doing basic troubleshooting steps since this started happening). Single player modes that I assume use internet services, like Time Trial ghosts, work as they should.I have tried hard restarting my console, hard restarting the game, hard restarts of both router and modem, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, confirming router settings according to Microsoft's troubleshooting pages.

I actually tried that too, with no luck. I ended up doing a factory reset on my Xbox and that fixed the issue (knock on wood). Had to redownload all of my installed games and redo all my settings, which was the worst part of the deal. But so far, it has fixed the issue

shame they let this issue persist year over year for F1 series. cannot join or create any lobbies since release date. just unfair to the customer

@upioneer Can’t play anything there is no point getting the game when I can’t play 2 player career or join any multiplayer lobby

i was able to workaround by disabling crossplay. now with that said if you have friends on other platforms this is not at all a solution. also there are significantly less lobbies with crossplay disabled. EA needs to fix this which they probably wont as it is an issue from years passed

Consoles very much like PCs these days. Glitch in the matrix.
Like PCs you should have a 'disaster strategy' for situations like this. Updating the system software is also recommended (i.e. not avoiding or delaying updates), not snoozing the console, not participating in Insider builds. The list goes on.
Apart from having secondary storage for game saves (and being prepared to forego them on occasion) can't be discounted.
Thanks for posting what worked for you, it's clearly not affecting everyone and it sounds like the other users in this thread may well have corrupted system software that housekeeping or refreshes don't deal with.
If it were some other game with this issue, the post would be on some other board or forum. So the commonality/causality is missed.

I literally see this on any attempt to join a lobby. i have no networking issues with any game i play except F1 23 and live in south florida with Xfinity service that never has a problem. why is it that a multiplayer game i paid for has absolutely zero ability to connect? its not my DNS settings or any of that other BS. Please anyone help even if it is just to say yeah that sucks. It has been like this since I got the game but I have only been able to play regularly recently. This is totally unacceptable for an EA supported game when a normal user with pretty decent networking intelligence to be unable to resolve this on my own with no where else to post about it except a forum that I am sure will receive a response in two weeks that wont work.
