I have followed all the Sony advice on fixing this; including reinstalling the game, rebuilding the database, resetting the console completely and deactivating rest mode.
The game is currently totally unplayable and this is very frustrating.

It was a corrupt save - when I deleted the save, the game worked absolutely fine (even with rest mode re-activated). So I'm back playing which is good news!
The save corrupted when I was in F1 World, went back to the PS5 control centre and accidentally pressed 'Resume Activity' on F123 homepage. The 'resumed activity' was Career Mode, and when it loaded my career it crashed and (I think) corrupted the save.
Should I re-report?Unsure. Once there is a corrupt save, it’s a corrupt save.
Sometimes the devs will ask for you to upload the save so they can see how the corruption has manifested.
