I have followed all the Sony advice on fixing this; including reinstalling the game, rebuilding the database, resetting the console completely and deactivating rest mode.

The game is currently totally unplayable and this is very frustrating.

It was a corrupt save - when I deleted the save, the game worked absolutely fine (even with rest mode re-activated). So I'm back playing which is good news!

The save corrupted when I was in F1 World, went back to the PS5 control centre and accidentally pressed 'Resume Activity' on F123 homepage. The 'resumed activity' was Career Mode, and when it loaded my career it crashed and (I think) corrupted the save.

    Should I re-report?

Unsure. Once there is a corrupt save, it’s a corrupt save.

Sometimes the devs will ask for you to upload the save so they can see how the corruption has manifested.

If you can quickly replicate with the action you thought caused it, repost here, tag someone and you may be asked for the save and the session codes.

  • @rob88hendersonGo through PS5 settings menus and disable anything to do with rest mode and device link. Then when you shut down PS5 never put it in rest mode. When PS5 launched. Rest mode had serious issues. Sony have since fixed the very worst problems. But people are still encountering game crashes on some game when they have had console in rest mode: Games it seems to crash most are ones that you can use 120fps. So F1 games being one of them.

Once disabled rest mode settings. Turn off PS5 and unplug. Leave it for abit then Start PS5 in safe mode and play rebuild database.

I’ve played over 250 hours on this years game on PS5 without a single freeze or crash

Sorry just see you’ve already disabled rest mode.  Just be sure all the settings for rest mode are disabled.  Power setting.., never put in rest mode and features that are enabled if in rest mode

Also be sure your TV Display is also switched to game.   Outside chance that your TV manufacturers picture processing software may causing issue

  • Thanks for this. Followed the above and still crashing on startup unfortunately.

I had 40 hours in game before this; is there a possibility it's a saved data corruption issue?

It's entirely possible. It's probably a "suck it and see". Unless you can save the data to external storage, remove it and try a "delete all user data"?

I would defer to @ScarDuck14 here, as sadly I don't have a PS5 to work with.

@rob88henderson Sorry it didn’t sort it out. Other than Rest mode issue I couldn’t really suggest anything else, I can’t even remember the last time I had a crash on any game, Thousands upon thousands off hours as I got my PS5 about 6 months after it launched.

Only thing I do differently to normal people is, I go through every menu and turn off everything not directly related to playing a game. As I don’t play multiplayer either I turn off all the friend and party nonsense. Restrict Sony as much as I can from listening to me talk to myself. Also notifications are all off, remote off, voice off. Gameplay recording off. Basically if there’s an option I can turn it off or delete it. I do it. I must be onto something as with other games PS5 players have gameplay or graphical issues with. Pretty I have none or they are nowhere as bad as others report,

As I Will regularly delete games abs apps I’m not playing I often rebuild database. Today when I booted in safe mode i see repair PS5, honestly never see it before, so I decided to do it. Just restarted console so don’t know if it did anything m. Didn’t notice anything different, So can’t hurt to see if that helps

@rob88henderson Really glad you found the problem and more importantly can now play, It’s always nice to see there are people that still have the awareness to consider a fix is on their own end.

I did get a corrupt save on 21. Was the only issue I’ve ever encountered. Still let me play the game just wouldn’t let me go to Monza
