I am a big F1 fan and have played every game since 2013, some of which have been memorable and others...not so much. However, I have always continued to get the latest one as Codemasters always tried to update / patch issues. With F1 2023 though, there seems to be so many issues its almost unbelievable that this game was released. See below for the list of issues I have come across so far. Leagues have been destroyed for no reason. No longer able to create a league with friends on the game itself or race using on demand. Only scheduled is available. Seriously, who ever thought this was a good idea needs sacking. so many separate threads regarding this colossal mess up. We do not need race net or changes to the league layout. If race net is the way forward, at least manage it on the game and not on a phone. In game menus are dark. I have read it’s an issue with HDR, but this is so obvious, how can this be passed through testing. The AI have always had issues in F1 games and I'm sure it is something that is hard to program well, but this game is just so bad. The AI will do anything to get back to the racing line regardless of if you are there or not. Once they do end up driving into you and start pushing you down a straight sideways, they don't stop. Oh no, they carry on as if you don't exist. Now, I will admit sometimes we blame the AI for our bad driving sometimes, but this game has an issue with them. Seriously needs looking at as at times, they can be un-raceable. The wet spray graphics looks so bad that its almost comparable of PS2 graphics. I remember very well that wet races back on F1 2019 looks very realistic. The spray from the wheels on F1 2023 just looks very bad. Not sure why this was changed for this game, but it just looks terrible. This issue is only graphical though so not essential to fix. The strategy glitch where it tells you to pit about 9 times on a 25% race or just once. You are then unable to make your own strategy so just drive your own race, pitting for different compounds to ensure you don't get DSQ. However, once the AI start the last lap, they are all DSQ as they have not done this. So, they all just stop on track. Ridiculous glitch. This happened on Miami during a 2-player career. If there is a crash in a race on the final lap, all the cars behind that crash end up finishing the race 1st. This has been an issue in past F1 games as well. You therefore end up finishing way lower than you should have. Also, a similar thing happens in one shot qualifying. If someone crashes and is out during the lap, then the AI somehow instantly finish their lap with insanely fast lap times.After qualifying, you can potentially start the race in a different position on 2 player careers. At first, I thought It may be down to other cars taking engine penalties but this is not the case.Alex Albon not mentioned in braking point during the grid line up. instead, Logan Sargent is mentioned twice. Again, just a minor issue. Whilst following a safety car, the AI just decide suddenly to rear end you and attempt to drive full speed. You end up spinning out or crashed. Multiple AI overtake you then finally slow down once they catch up the safety car. Some even go past and end up a lap ahead but at the back of the pack. This has been a problem in F1 2022 and F1 2021. The game itself just takes forever to load to different screens. The initial load up from the PS4 menu is quicker than F1 2022 but after that, the load times are just far too long. Loading screens can be more than 1 minute.AI have extremely poor starts off the line.STILL cannot unlap your self in a race. Once you are a lap down, that is the end of your race, regardless of if there’s a safety car or not.With the issues mentioned above, this game could not have gone through any kind of testing. If it did then so many issues were just overlooked or deemed not a problem. The trouble is that all this work trying to fix the game that was released 1 month ago, should be time spent on the F1 2024 game. Going through other bugs with the game, it looks like there's over 200 issues and that's just after I stopped scanning through them. Just disappointed with this game. We have gone back to F1 2022 now as it’s just not worth the hassle....and the fact we can play together in a league.

Well.Many things to say, positives and negatives.Let's start with the positives.- Compendium : brings nice photos and stories about drivers, teams, circuits, kinda like it even if i'm watching every GP since many years and seek for infos on different websites- Grip : finally we won't spin on 4th/5th gear just like real F1 cars- Loading times between screens- Countdown during online racing : implemented late on F1 2021, then removed on F1 22 so we could wait years someone who has not loaded before/after the race- F1 World : the challenges (scenarios, time trial challenge, menus)- Tracklist : EA Touch, very nice songs just like they do in FIFA seriesNegatives- Other stuff in F1 World : Supercars ? Customization with kinda ugly suits, gloves, helmets, fake sponsors.. Purpose of tech level ? Podium celebration ?? I mean come on, this is ridiculous, you'll never see pilots IRL celebrating like superman or making stupid dances- AI straight line speed- Rear light flashing under 10% ERS ? Where tf does this come from ? Can't we just have like real F1 cars and flash when ERS recovery is active ?? Why can't we barely see the two aditionnal lights on the rear wing where in real life it's so bright ?- Engine sounds : was that too difficult to put some microphones and just record it ? How we went from not awful but correct engine sounds in F1 2021/22 to dumbest engine sound ever in F1 23 ?- Pit stop animation : still ugly, robotic and non realistic- Start from pitlane after component replacement before race ? Where is it ?- Red sectors ?? Is that too difficult to just set as it is in real life : yellow, green and purple ? There is no such as red- Track limits : some tracks you are punished for 1mm outside the line, some of them you can put the 4 wheels outside and slightly cut the turn to gain time and it's allowed (Austin turn 12, Suzuka turn 16 and many more..)- Lack of good informations about how to create your own setup : for example dispose a graphic where you can see the effects of the settings you are modifying - level of grip, straight line speed, mechanical grip, understeery or oversteery setup, tyre degradation, ERS recovery etc..- LED RPM : why can't we just customize our own leds and be able to have our setup in myteam, timetrial, online.. little bit tired of the same one by one led (just like Hamilton had in Mercedes from 2013 to 2017). Would love to create my own profile for engine rpm, pit lane limiter, VSC and SC, DRS available and open... And by the way on this subject. There is literally 0 F1 car irl which has blinking leds on high engine rpm, and they don't grow up in 8th gear.- Halo HUD one day ?- Spectating other drivers : how buggy it is, look like the guy is destroying his engine by overpushing the rpm. Years after years this is getting worse and worse. All of this are slight details that would improve a lot our experience in this game, which i don't think it's hard to code, it's just a matter of doing something close to reality when you sell your game as "the official F1 game", then do it, for real. I even tried the F1 TV Style mod in racedepartment which is clearly more realistic but a little bit buggy and laggy, but it shows that it's possible with an external software (Simhub) to have a lookalike global HUD for free, so why can't developers in a billionnaire studio can't make it ? Seriously.Last things and it bothers me since few years, I got the SF1000 wheel, and I'm sure it has to be thrustmaster issue or something in the game code which is not optimal : so many times after a long straight and heavy braking zone like turn 1 in Monza, turn 3 in Austria, downshifting often miss. I just can't downshift quickly (apparently, there is no issue like that with fanatec stuff), that make me often miss the apex, lose a lot of time / had to do and redo the lap in timetrial just because of that. This is soooooooo annoying. Years i'm trying to identify the issue, found nothing.But all of those realistic improvements won't come anytime soon as for me, EA is just betting $$ over making a realistic game and listening to his community. Still the same graphic engine for years, so many improvements asked and only one came : red flags, inside the game files, still shows "Toro Rosso, Sauber, Force India, Sauber"... they just don't care.

@Wollcott I don't agree nobody uses in game league and it's not fair to generalize just because maybe you don't use them. As you can see in this thread a lot of people are using leagues in game and a lot more don't come to the forums to leave a comment or a new thread. I agree that they have destroyed the league play. My friend and I only buy the game for on demand league play against the remaining 18 AI cars. Creating a league on line is extremely cumbersome and the user was much better served when they were created in game. I haven't really noticed any of the other problems you bring up because I am not driving the game much. I just do an hour or so after each update. With luck, someone is listening at Codemasters/EA and they will restore the old league set up.

I have enjoyed F1 23 very much. The multiplayer racing is competitive and fun.However, IMO F1 2021 was an excellent game (and I compare all others against it) and while I do like the general concept of F1 World, I think the upgradable F1 World Car is about the dumbest thing EA has ever put in an F1 game. You get a freaking reward of some time for doing next to nothing on the game.And seriously, get rid of the Supercars and Pirelli Hot Laps. Just a waste of space.The F1 Life crap - seriously who asked for this and why is this in the game? Scrap it.The Compendium is pretty cool and helps newcomers learn more about the sport, but how about tie in a classic car as a reward from each team once you complete their book.All in all, they need to go back to the basics.Why not have a career mode where you start in the F3 and try to make your way to F2 then F1?? Hell even NASCAR Heat has that career progression model from Dirt Track to NASCAR series. It seems so simple.If EA can get out of their own way and listen to the people who play the game, we could get a much better product.

I have no idea how you can say the league system isn't used lol. Literally everyone uses it, which is why the game has received so much negativity. There are countless amounts of threads and posts about EA not implementing it into the game at launch. I for one don't even know what Discord is. Guessing an app of some kind to talk to people. But I would guess the majority of players over the age of 30 are never going to see a poll or use a separate system to organise racing with friends haha. EA have just gone down the road of accommodating the hardcore players more than the majority of casual players. We just get home from work, do the chores and finally get the kids to bed to have about 90 minutes to ourselves. Whatsapp our friends, turn the console on and continue our championship in the leagues to earn those all important participant medals lol. Now I know your going to reply to this and tell me how wrong I am or I dont have a clue but I dont really care haha. The amount of people who have gone back to F1 2022 now after a month of no update says it all. I for one know of 5 different people in separate friend groups who have all either traded / sold the game or just put it in the draw and put the old 2022 disc back in.

F1 2023 Thoughts So Far

nobody uses in game leagues which is why it was scrapped. but lets be real. any serious league organises itself over discord. EAs idea to instead pull it into racenet is somewhat questionable. dont need the mode in the first place. racenet itself is extremely popular and I know hundrets of people using it for practice.
About the testing: Codemasters either does not do any testing, or they simply dont care. colossal issues such as the equal cars not being equal should and couldve been known from testing and beta. and yet it wasnt. same as the marbles. they are a serious issue for everybody who doesnt stick to the "ingame racing line" or "AI line". the marbles spawn next to the AI racing line. which is is insanley stupid and unrealistic, as the AI doesnt even take the actual racing line (good example Spain T3. AI takes wide line but the actual racing line is the inside line. Marbles spawn on the actual racing line)
it doesnt make any sense whatsoever. its like punishing people who drive on the real racign line and people who blindly follow the rainbow in the middle of the screen have it easier.

Codemasters did a poll within league racers last year to "improve the ingame league system". only about 10% of active league racers said they fully or casually use the ingame system. 80% said discord. So the actual usage of that mode seemed to be absoutely limited, especially since you cant apply steward penalties or revert other penalties.
It was known for over a year that EA declared war to the league racing community as they have no control over the potential revenue bigger leagues make. At the same time ingame league system was by far the least used mode. So for a long time it was knwon EA is goign to try and relaunch their own league systems, why they chose racenet for that nobody knows. they shouldve just stayed out of it completely.

Do you think everyone that played F1 voted on this poll? I had no idea there was even a poll about it. Don’t even follow codemasters or EA on social media like a huge amount of people I expect. This game is supposed to be catered for the casual gamer, who are the main purchasers of the game. That’s why there’s features like F1 world and breaking point and hot laps (which I think are all rubbish but they’re there for the casual gamer no doubt).

Without the ability for the casual gamer to play an on demand championship with a couple of mates alongside AI, in my opinion it makes this game totally pointless for me and thousands of others which is evident to see in many other threads on this site. I’ve also never used race net nor discord (what is discord 😂) to set anything up. Not all of us think we’re esports drivers and fill up a 20 person league and race at a set time each week…

Yeah, I gotta agree. Hot laps are garbage, AI are worse than 2 years ago, and the my team car is a nightmare at the beginning. Only thing improved in this game are the physics.

It is kind of funny to see people reverting to 22 as it was, it still is, an awful f1 game. Hard to imagine how ea/cm managed to create an even worse game for the sequel.
But on the topic of leagues, no wonder those are not that popular choice. We started with them with my friends, but they we such a buggy mess that eventually when i stumbled into the concept of creating our own league system, there is no going back. Like this, everything is more freely customizable, whereas with the ingame league system you could not really adjust much of anything. And i am quite handy with excel so i created a reeeally good template for this so after the hours put into creating the excel, which was quite fun, there is not any hassle at all in setting the results and getting the standings etc out.

career mode with 2 players is soooooo * bad, there are so many things going wrong, but the most annoying is the AI who is driving like you are not there, its not normal, they just crash into you even on straight lines…
there need to be soo much fixed, get stuck a lot of times, bugs everywhere, development that is just always failing the first time
we need to start over cause the game was just totally stuck..
its so bad, and such a waste, cause F1 CAN be so much fun to do
