I'm not sure this is a bug. You get fuel for laps in practice and qualifying. If you use your tires more than that, then you don't got enough tire life for the featured race. so once fuel is up, your session can be closed and you'll be fine in the feature race.
So that means like 5 laps for practice and 2 flying laps for qualifying. And then use those two tires as 2 stop in feature race.
I play full simulation, no assist and hard a. i. on gamepad with trigger feedback for traction limit.
I noticed its quicker to learn a track with the suggestion driving line assist on.
So I won 3 of 6 races with this assist without having to use many tires to learn a track before racing.
I qualified 2nd on baku on my second flying lap. With just 5 laps of practice.
the driving line assist is sort of like getting ridd of having to watch and study onboard cameras just because tires are too expensive. FIA is taking away tires for carbon emmisions or something.
- DRudd132 years agoSeasoned Ace@ivun3 I think you're right. You get 2 softs and 2 hards for qualifying, sprint and feature as the practice hard gets returned. you must use a set of new softs in the sprint. And your qualifying softs in the feature with your hards. and have a spare hard in case something goes wrong. So to preserve your qualifying softs as much as possible you may as well just do 1 shot qualifying. Because if you're hammering them you will have to use the least worn set in the feature race.

Yes it's definitely a bug that occurs often.
As you can see an example of tire allocation in imola.
By hard I mean medium in this case, and soft is supersoft in this case.
5 tires, 3 hard 2 soft
1hard for practice 1 soft for qualifying.
I got 2 hard and 1 soft left.
1 hard tire for sprint race.
I got 1 hard and 1 soft for feature race left.
During feature race, I am not allowed to use the harder compound, I am forced to use the worn out medium and even weirder, Even tho I got 1 unused soft left, during the race the pitcrew manage to give me 2 unused supersoft. That's not even possible and it happens to the whole grid except one a.i. driver who's allowed to win because hes allowed to use the reaerved unused medium tires while the rest of us have to do 2 stop he does 1. Completely bug.
Strategy looks like

I also hope it gets fixed soon.
@ivun3 Thanks for simplying it in the image. That is exactly what I experienced aswell. Missing medium tyre and an added fresh set of supersofts that comes out of nowhere in the feature race.

I just started a race where I had 100% tyre wear on both rears. These must have been my sprint tyres, because I started on the hards

we have 5 tire slots 3 mediums and 2 softs. when we play 35% race with full Qualy, we play the Sprint with the second soft tyre, and in the feature race we play with the soft we used in qualy, but it comes with wear above what we left in Qualy proving to be an excessive wear bug . And in long and complete races we make the Qualy complete with the soft tire quiet and in the Sprint we use the hard tire the whole race, but when we go to the feature race we can't choose the third hard tire left with only the hard one used in the Sprint available and so the game thank you we make 2 stops
- DRudd132 years agoSeasoned Ace@IAGOBERNARDES11 The sporting regulations state that each driver will be allocated five sets of dry-weather tyres per weekend. They will have three “prime” specification sets and two of the “option” specification. Each driver will also be provided with three sets of wet-weather tyres. So the game is accurate.

So, the game must be adding some tire wear when we go to the race because the times we used the soft tires in Sprint and Qualy in the main race, it was supposed to be in the same wear that we had left in past races no get 100% worn out
