F1 23: F2 Career Mode Unplayable Due To Mandatory Tyre Bug

Product: F1 23
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
Summarize your bug In F2 Feature races in the F1 23 game, the game forces you to choose at least 1 stint of a mandatory tyre. However, due to a bug, the only version you have of these tyres are extremely worn. As a result, the game forces you to either start or finish the race on extremely worn and often even punctured tyres, making feature races essentially completely unplayable. Please fix this as soon as possible, as it makes the entire F2 career mode nearly unusable.
What is your 16 digit Report Code?
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider?
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Start a career mode in F2 with any team. Make sure to have both Sprint and Feature races in a weekend. 2. Qualify and Finish a sprint race. 3. Advance to the feature race 4. The bug will be apparent already in the strategy screen. The game will force you to put a stint of 1 lap on extremely worn, mandatory tyres somewhere in the race. (Either at the beginning or the end) 5. Once you start the race, you will notice that the tyres are extremely worn and will most of the time puncture immediately. In some cases, they have already punctured before you even start.
What happens when the bug occurs? You will simply not be able to drive the car properly once you pit onto these tyres, furthermore, the strategy of having to drive on a compound for just 1 lap is completely unrealistic. The tyres will quickly puncture, making you lose incredible amounts of speed and cornering, but this somehow will not happen for the AI drivers around you, essentially putting you in last every single time.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see the game functioning as normal, for example: In Jeddah, there is a 12 lap feature race. The mandatory tyre is the Medium tyre. If things go as expected: -You will either get a strategy where your engineer suggests starting on the Soft tyre, pitting in, for example, lap 5, to then switch to mediums to finish the race. -Your second strategy will probably be an agressive one, such as starting on softs until, for example, lap 4, then switching to another set of softs until lap 8, to then switch to mediums to finish the race. (The current suggestion will always be two sets of softs, with a 1 lap stint on those broken tyres either before or after the soft stints)

In the F2 Mode in Single Player Career Mode in F1 23, the option to use both a feature and sprint race is currently unplayable. Here's why:

The sprint race will function as normal. No reoccuring bugs to report there.

The feature race, however, forces you to drive 1 stint on a mandatory tyre (as you would expect.)

However, this set of tyres is broken. It is, for some reason, (nearly) 100% worn and will puncture (almost) immediately.

This is already evident from the strategy screen, as the game forces you to put a 1 lap stint somewhere in the race.

This stint can't be extended either as, ofcourse, the tyres are completely dead already.

The AI will also start on these worn tyres, but they won't puncture.

In summary:

-The Game forces you to choose a completely shot set of tyres for a mandatory stint

-As a result, you will have to drive 1 lap with punctured tyres either at the start or the finish, with no way to bypass it without being DQ'd

-The AI will gain tens of seconds on you at all times, because their tyres are not punctured

-It is impossible to finish anything but close to last in a Feature race.

Additional Notes:

-Although these are the same compound as the sprint race tyres, they SEEM to be unrelated.

You usually finish the sprint race with anywhere between 40% and 60% tyre wear. Nowhere close to 100%.

-I have not tested whether this bug also occurs when choose the option to only do Feature races.

However, due to the reason stated above, I suspect the bug will also occur there

-Strangely, you DO have a new set of the mandatory tyre available to you during the sprint race, meaning that there SHOULD be the option to choose a stint of fresh tyres.

Please fix this bug asap. It makes the F2 mode completely unplayable and I, as well as many other players, like this feature a lot. Especially for the sake of realism.

  • My example:

Texas, 1 shot quali, 50% distance Sprint & Feature.

    Tyres allocation:

    - supersofts SS 1/2, SS 2/2

    - meds M 2/3, M 3/3

    - no M 1/3 because Practise is turned off.

    Step by step:

    1) During Quali I use SS 1/2. Degradation goes up to few %.

    2) I start Sprint on M 2/3. Degradation is 30%.

    3) Pit for new tyres SS 2/2. Degradation is 40%. Chequered flag.

    4) During Feature race I should be able to use SS 1/2 from Quali & fresh set M 3/3.

    5) Suggested strategy shows 2 pit stops and FORCES me to start on supersofts! I cannot start start on meds.

    6) I start on SS 1/2. Which is still fine.

    7) Pit for meds and I got used M 2/3 instead of fresh M 3/3 !!!

M 3/3 just disappears! It's an issue since day one and still no action. Same bug on F2 2022 & 2023.

4 months later and the bug is still there lmao

  • This is wrong, if you use the harder tyre in the sprint then that tyre is almost completely worn and then you have to use it again in the feature which means you have to do 3 stops...

  • The problem can be summed up as, nor the user nor the ai are able to ever use all 3 harder tyres throughout a race weekend. You have one set available for practice, one avaliable for the sprint and then you have to use the very worn sprint tyre in the feature race meaning you have to 2 stop.

As for fixes, well there aren't any. I think if you start on the harder tyre in the feature race they will automatically go to 100% wear so don't do that (I saw someone say that if you don't have formation lap on then it doesn't do that so maybe try that) otherwise remove the harder tyre stint and put it at the end then choose to either three stop if extend your softer tyre stint to the max and do a one stop to the harder.

Another option is to two stop in the sprint so that you have a fresher set of the harder tyre, this will allow you to one stop in the feature easily.

Another idiotic thing is that your first set of the softer compund that you use in the feature is the one you used in quali, not the completely fresh set you have at your disposal lol

    Sure you're correct.

CM should remove this mode from the game as they simply aren't going to or don't know how to maintain it. Frankly, it's been embarrassing since introduction.

I would say in-game player metrics mean you have almost zero chance of a fix.
