F1 23 Hands-on impressions

So as per the F1 23 release timeline, we're right on the Creators/Media Hands-On Content step. We all have our favorite content creators, with different preferences, backgrounds and certainly different takes on this franchise. I'll share two I've seen and find value in:

Traxion is right there in the top echelon of simracing media outlets to me. They cover all sort or franchises with the inevitable focus on ACC and iRacing, but even arcade franchises have a spot on their channel. John Munro gives the most thorough preview I've seen so far, commenting on specifics changes for handling and FFB of F1 23. There's even a whole chapter on his experience with a controller.

The video has chapters and is well made. No aimless rambling, over enthusiastic shouting or anything of the like. It's proper and respects our time 💞

Boosted Media. He's a simracer through and through, best hardware reviews in the business. And he gives it straight. The preview is light on content and he has not been the most avid F1 player for a long time now, but he does share his impressions of the new FFB and even the AI. It was the first one I looked for as I have drifted more towards ACC and iRacing as of late.

All that said, please bear in mind these are previews with limited scope. I do not advise pulling the trigger this soon in the release window. Please, wait for actual, unrestricted reviews, made on the final build of the game and covering the game modes that make up the bulk of our experience with these yearly franchises – Career, My Team, and Online Multiplayer.

From Marcel I got to underline:

+ easy to exit corner in 3rd, sometimes in 2nd as well

+ kerb at the exit of T4 in Silverstone ❤️

+ Copse flat out at least with low fuel

? 50% differential on throttle, I fear may be back to be the standard like F1 2020

? risk of the 'old' 1st gear to have further car rotation on entry?

BTW I noticed the new range on suspension etc., from 1 to 41 (?!) if I correctly understand, I'm wondering why not 0-50 to standardize but mainly my first question for Q&A topic will be: now if I set up my car all the settings are the same by changing track? Meaning my car is identical, only the track changes? Or are there still elements related to the track? Relatives and not absolutes...

    - where is the proverbial straight speed of the RB with DRS open? Etc.

I checked he was on Equal Performance, so hopefully not an issue there...

@NuvolarixDRS will not be different between cars by how i know Codemasters.. RB wont be the super OP car either, they might end up being a little faster but they also never made Merc that 1 second per lap faster when they were..

Id expect the car to always be the same setup wise no matter if low downforce track of high downforce especially as the suspension was almost always the same anyway

Although i might sound negative so far and am actually not sure if i will buy as dirty air length and tyre temps for AI seem unchanged i will say, its hard to resist the much better handling and more detailed setup, looks really good on that front!

@Meza994 yes probably it was already in F1 22 (differently from the past), just different scale...

@Nuvolarix I think that only some things will likely change. Im also worried about the 50% dif but hopefully i will be wrong. From experience with the game the ers and drs is definitely stronger but im hoping that will change for the full game release

@Cpayne32DRS should be strong, it seems accurate, ERS might be recovering a little fast but i cant really judge that so far, problem would be the too weak and short dirty air.. And iirc Opmeer was using a really low downforce setup for Silverstone (relative to what is used there normally) in his video which would explain the overspeed
