I understand that they are the slowest cars on the grid, but their top speed is not limited by their drag profile but their gear ratios instead. For those who play career mode, all the drag upgrades will have no effect on increasing the top speed for these cars, due to the fact these three cars have a limited top speed due to the gear ratio. The mclaren is also Mercedes powered but is able to reach 360kph (9kph more than all other Mercedes powered cars) without hitting its gear ratio which is why I believe this to be a mistake on the other three mercedes powered cars.

I did a Grand Prix in Las Vegas, just to see what it was like and chose the Mercedes.I'm literally getting slaughtered on the straights with Overtake on and DRS open and I also find the Mercedes powered cars are way too high pitched, same with Alpine

@ScarDuck14 This issue is nothing to do with the power of the engine but the fact that the engine has hit its rev limit so even if I upgrade in the RnD when using one of these 3 cars the cars top speed will NOT improve.

That's a huge difference. Hopefully it's patched soon.

@C4RB0N1T3I started a career with Aston Martin and at Baku I barely had any upgrades and I was topping out at 218MPH (350-351KPH). I’m at Monza and I have a few upgrades . To be exact two Minor and one Major upgrades for Engine Power (3 total) along with one Minor and one Major Drag Reduction (2 total) and my top speed didn’t improve. I’m still rev limited at 218MPH (350-351KPH)

This was just in the grand prix mode in short qualifying. (I’m the car slipstreaming the AI in the video). I wanted to see if the rev limit/top speed issue was affecting the AI as well after seeing it in time trial. So I chose Monza so the AI would be running lower wings and tried to get the AI to as much speed as I could.

@MPHGp Yeah, the upgrades won't make a single difference as they've made a mistake with the gear ratios for these cars. Hopefully they will actually acknowledge the issue soon as it will have a larger performance impact the further into a career you go.

@7aco104 I wouldn't have expected the bug to affect the AI in qualifying. Honestly, even the cars that have the higher rev limit seem to get far too near to it on low downforce so it may also be an issue with the way that drag works within the game.

Pay attention to the AUDIO, you can hear some weird stuff happening with the engine as we reach 351 kph.

Mercedes has the slowest top speed as a function of their higher final gear ratio; mclaren make their own gearbox with a lower final gear ratio giving them a higher top speed.
This is a real world representation; it would be good if Codemasters included an option to build your own gearbox like we can with the durability and power upgrades.

@EA_rephii If the team has time to check this issue it would be nice for the players. Even if you upgrade the Mercedes engine (for Williams, Aston Martin, Mercedes, and in MyTeam) it won't go further than 351kph > probably a rev limiter issue like @C4RB0N1T3 has mentioned.

Every car has a rev limiter. Also, reducing downforce does not always increase speed, because the car does have drag. It's fluid mechanics. So it does happen on real cars.
It's estimated you would need around 2800BHP to achieve 300mph. Top speeds of current F1 cars are around 230mph but this isn't possible on F1 circuits as the straights are not long enough. 215-220mph is a practical maximum.
