F1 23 (Unreal<>EA) not starting

Played the game earlier with my RTX 3050 laptop card, but fps went sad.

So now with an eGPU RTX 4070 12Gb I hope for it to work flawlessly! BUT NOT! After hours of updating the game, reinstalling, repairing, restarting the computer, all I get is a black screen for about 10 seconds, then nothing. Back to the EA app.

I want a useful solution to this, or I'm really fed up with Codemaster's not so masterful coding and want my money back. Fed up with this *.

EA, you have my email address to solve this.

Thanks

FYI I found the solution myself today! My external SSD drive is of course faster over a thunderbolt port. Using that instead of some usb port got it loading and working fine.

Would have been nice with some kind of load speed test since it’s so important. Other games like Assassins Creed Valhalla had no problems through usb.

  • @RutgerFuchs sorry I can't help, this happened to me just after I've pressed any button to start and then backs me out to ea app. in July I had the same problem and tried everything but nothing works haven't been able to play since an update in early September I think. EA are very useless and not to mention codemaster. £60 gets me play for 2 months then stops working. there's only so many times you can contact customer support.

There's just no way to reach out to them. Just makes people really cautious buying a game when there's not even support. Only hope is searching the web for open forums, or reinstalling the whole computer game, because it's obviously all a mystery how a game can work on a Win 11 top spec totally updated computer with brand new GPU..

    Sad!

    Depends on USB spec.

USB 2.0 is about 40MB/s, USB 3.0 about 100MB/s, internal SATA HDD around 130-200MB/s, SATA SSD 400-550MB/s, NVMe 900-5000MB/s

Thunderbolt 3 should theoretically top out around SATA SSD speeds, Thunderbolt 4 is more versatile. Haven't really had Thunderbolt hardware so not sure of the overhead if more than one device is connected. The game's loading speed is the anticheat, it's not all that quick on NVMe if I'm honest (and I have NVMe 4.0x4).
