F1 23 VR crashes on race start

In VR mode everything works fine till the display switches to 3D mode. It always locks up on the first screen.

When browsing through the menu's it shows them in 2D mode and only in a rectangle forward view in the VR goggles . This works  as expected.

When a race starts it should switch to 3D and to "dome" view in which you can look around by moving your head. It does switch 3D alright, but still forward rectangle view and it locks up right away.

CPU fan's start running and Steam VR reports it has crashed.

With older versions of F1 23 this only happened ones in a while, but now its all the time.

This is the only game in which this happens.

PC is HP Omen 30L, Intel i9-10850K 3501Mhz CPU,

Graphics: nVidia RTX3080,

VR: HP Reverb G2 2th edition

Please advise?

Regards, Johan

Finally I solved the issue myself.

After repairing everting I could think off, like installing an older graphics driver, re-installing Steam, Steam VR, F1 22 and F1 23, disk and Windows checkups etc the solution was rather simple. Too bad the EA service Desk did not advise this...

Go to Documents\My Games folder. Rename the F1 23 (and, in my case, the F1 22) folder to F1 23-old and restart the PC.

It worked again! Mostly that is.

Sometime it also helps to change the VR settings of the game. It probably overwrites some corrupt files in that case.

Renaming the F1 23 folder might help for other issues too
