We have checked this report and this is working as designed. F2 cars do not have a visual indicator for the DRS Zone that is reflected in the game for the cockpit view.
This was also by design in last year's game, and we don't plan to change this for the cockpit view.-rephii
This might not been a feature in last years game, but it is still something that is inaccurate and has been present in previous games before that.
I guess this is due to the way Codemasters seem to develop their games in a tick-tock manner and thus inadvertently backporting bugs into games.
It's a great shame that Codemasters create minor bugs, and feature regressions like these and are not willing to fix them.

@EA_rephii The same behaviour was present in F1 2020, so unless the developers purposefully and actively removed the feature (why would this be done in the first place?) and thus cause the game to become less playable, this is a bug and unintended behaviour.
I just want to emphasis that while this might been a behaviour in F1 22, it should not have be the intended behaviour and that the bug seem to have been ported from F1 22 into F1 23.

Hey @dotazured,
This indeed might have worked in games previous to F1 22. Sorry, if this answer might not satisfy you, but this is considered as designed and there won't be DRS indicators for F2 cars for the cockpit camera.

- dotazured2 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_rephii Why was this changed in the first place? The current behaviour is not accurate to what the F2 cars behave like in real life.
What is the point and reasoning of this type of feature regression?
Frankly, this just feels like someone messed up at some point during the development of F1 22 by breaking the functionality of the indicator and that the developers are either too lazy, or doesn't care enough to fix it, and are just using the "as intended" as a shield and excuse to not mitigate the issue.
Extremely disappointing behaviour from both EA and Codemasters. - 2 years ago
Hi there, @EA_rephii
It has come to my attention that a game that claimed immersion had a flaw that spoils the experience with one minor issue. As you are already aware, the DRS activation indicator glitch in the f2 car cockpits has been present in the game from f1 22, and as someone who prefers to play career mode with little HUD. It disappoints me that you are taking no action, especially because I am not the only one affected by this bug. What about the VR player? They don't seem to matter, given that F1 23 is supposed to be an immersive experience. You should be ashamed!

@EA_rephii As you seem to double down on this stance, that this behaviour would be as intended (which I feel is being dishonest and simply a blatant lie), what do you suggest that VR players do in this case? Or players that use minimal HUD like @kremlu21 does?
The issue is pretty game breaking if driving F2 cars with the cockpit camera.- dotazured2 years agoSeasoned Ace

(Sorry if this isn't your area of expertise, but need to make sure that someone at Codemasters sees this, if you know a colleague has knowledge about this, please show them this thread)
Can you please enlighten us what the reasoning behind the removal/lack of interest of fixing this bug that has been present since F1 22?
Because frankly, this active decision to remove the DRS status light on the steering wheel* (*according to ea_rephii) makes absolutely zero sense.
Just because this issue was present (and a bug) in F1 22, doesn't mean it is less of a bug in F1 23.
Please consider fixing this as it is very difficult to know the DRS status of the F2 cars while driving using minimal hud, cockpit camera and/or using a VR headset.
Why remove such a vital part and absolutely ruin the experience of the F2 cars?
I feel that rephii might have either been misinformed or misinterpreted information provided to them, and would be great if we could bring some clarity into this matter.
