Fuel consumption (user and AI)

I always set the amount of fuel required for the race but it might be not enough in some tracks. I just had a race at Suzuka in which I was at -0.80 and had to save a lot just to get to the finish line and multiple AI cars run out of fuel in the last lap. It was single player, GP mode (100% distance) with 2023 cars....

  • @sirio42994 Did you by any chance use flashback and rewind from one sector to another one at any point during the race?
  • Yeah suzuka fuel is too low, they need to adjust that asap. And look at all tracks in GP mode because the consumption is off on all tracks I've tested, mostly +.

  • @KrazyLurt the amount of fuel you use depends on the track and how you drive it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you put the exact amount of fuel needed to do the number of laps and then ran out of fuel, right? If this is the case, why is it not a matter of you managing the fuel you use? I recall managing fuel in F1 games for at least a couple of years now. That number is a calculation, not the exact value. The game doesn't know how much fuel you will use in that race, otherwise, what was the purpose of allowing the player to manage the fuel?

    Or am I missing something?

the calculation is off on mostly every track, too conservative and I end up + fuel a lot, and I have both a decent amount of wheelspin and above optimal gearshift rpm through the races. I should be calculated with minimal wheelspin and over revs, not the other way around.

  • @KrazyLurt Don't know what to tell you, I under fuel the car in every race the same way I've done in other F1 games with no issues.

I think you're slightly missing the point here. I think the root cause would be that the game thinks that X amount of fuel will do on average 70 laps and shows that in the menu but in-fact it's only the average for 50 laps. So the player is having to do a huge amount more fuel saving that was thought, beyond what is reasonable in a race. The give away of an issue is that the AI are running out of fuel, I don't think that's ever really meant to happen.

Obviously my figures are just for explanation, not accurate.

  • @SASColfer If I don't change the fuel at all, I should go out of fuel, but what is happening to me is that I'm lowering the fuel projected. Which is the opposite of what is being described.

Given my experience is so different I wonder if this is in a specific game mode or specific race distance. For instance, OP mentioned GP 100%, that is something I haven't done in this version of the game. This is testable, I'll check it out.
