Game Stuttering Exactly Every 10 Seconds

What is your 16 digit Report Code?
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider?
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Playing the game in any mode.
What happens when the bug occurs? Exactly every 10 seconds the game freezes for around 0.5 seconds.
What do you expect to see? Game freezes/stutters.

When running F1 23, I'm getting a micro-stutter exactly every 10 seconds which is making the game unplayable. This stuttering occurs in all game modes and in the main menu.

The stuttering occurs when running a benchmark however it does not register as a frame drop.

This is only occurring in F1 23 and F1 22, no other games are having this issue on my system. Assetto Corsa, ACC, and iRacing all run perfectly.

System specs:

128GB DDR4

RTX 3090

i9-7980XE

Game installed on an 850 EVO SSD (and also tried on a 960 EVO)

I have troubleshooted the following and nothing has fixed it.

- I have verified it's not graphics/video settings in-game causing the issue by individually adjusting all settings and also by dropping graphics settings to lowest and the issue still persists. I have also tried in all variations of Windowed/Fullscreen etc and there is no impact.

- Updated to latest version of Windows

- Clean install to latest Nvidia drivers through DDU

- Clean reinstall of the game

- Reinstall of the game to a different drive

- Ruled out the monitor/cable as tested with a different screen

- Disabled all non-essential background programs

- Disabled OpenVPN

- Disabled and then uninstalled Asus AI Suite 3

- Uninstalled peripheral software including Corsair Link and icue

- Unplugged both ethernet connections for WAN and LAN

- Updated motherboard BIOS to latest

- Unplugged wheel (Fanatec CSL DD)

- When logging with hwinfo, there are no spikes or anything unusual at the 10 second mark - ie so doesn't seem to be CPU or GPU throttling.

- Individually changed each game-specific setting in Nvidia Control Panel

- Updated audio drivers

- Disabled all audio devices, including onboard and external USB DAC

- Given the exact 10 second frequency of the stutter, I thought it could be USB related. However I have ruled this out:

- Unplugged all USB devices

- Unplugged the USB controller on my CPU AIO cooler

- Updated USB drivers

- With Event Viewer in Windows, there are no logs for a device being unplugged/plugged-in every 10 seconds, so can rule out a USB issue.

I have spent a long time trying to fix this issue. I believe the problem is with the game as the issue is not happening in any other games. Could there be a unique background process I have not discovered that is affecting just the F1 games? It's at the point now where I'm considering a full Windows reinstall, but I'm reluctant as I'm not confident this would fix the issue given that other games are running perfectly fine.

Has anybody experienced anything similar to this? Any assistance would be most appreciated.

  • I am primarily trying to run the game on an Odyssey G65B UW 240HZ display.

I have also tested on two additional monitors, but the previously attached benchmark results were from it running on the Odyssey as the primary display.

I have tried adjusting all video settings, including limiting frame rate and turning up settings. Even when capped at 60fps (on a 240HZ monitor or 60HZ monitor), the exact same behaviour of a stutter every 10 seconds occurs.

Can you connect just the Samsung then and repost the dxdiag please?

Also please post a CrystalDiskMark of the System / Steam / Game drives please (just the first test is really all that is required).

  • Here is the updated dxdiag and result from CrystalDiskMark.

In my original troubleshooting, I moved the game install to another drive to verify that the drive was not the issue.

Can you run Samsung Magician to check firmware (all Samsung)?

Looks like the Fanatec Driver may not be the latest, please check and update (452) and firmware.

We need to get that framerate locked to the Samsung at 120Hz without the in-game frame limiter.

In-game V-SYNC ON and refresh set to 120Hz. If it's not compliant, then the Nvidia settings could be the issue.
