Hori PS4 Wheel being recognised as Xbox controller, pedals showing up as R2

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) N/A
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe F1 23, through Steam
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Since purchasing the game, 21.11.23
Summarize your bug Hi. I have a HORI racing wheel for PS4 and have used it with no issues for a long time with my PS4. I recently bought F1 23 on Steam (PC) for the first time and have noticed a few quite major issues. In Steam, the wheel is being recognised as an Xbox controller which therefore means all the buttons in-game are xbox buttons. (This is a minor issue but it would be nice to fix) 2. And very importantly, the game detects pedal inputs as trigger input as from a controller i.e. when I press accelerate it comes up as R2 (actually it comes up as RT due to the first issue). This is an issue because other things are bound to R2 that when I press cause the car to accelerate when I don't want it to. Yes, I have put the mode to PS4-S and DP. So my question is, are these issues fixable, or is my wheel just not made for PC, because it has worked perfectly for the last 5 years or so? Thanks in advance. Kevin
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? You will need a HORI PS4 wheel and a copy of F1 23 on Steam to experience the bug yourselves
What happens when the bug occurs? Issue #1 Despite my racing wheel being designed for PS4, in-game and in Steam, it is recognised as an Xbox controller (CONTROLLER - not even and Xbox WHEEL) therefore it displays Xbox buttons as controls Issue #2 When editing my control setups, the accelerate and brake pedals are not recognised as their individual controls, but a duplicate of R2 and L2, same with the steering - it is recognised as joystick left and right
What do you expect to see? Buttons changed to represent the PS4 layout, and a fix as to how to get my steering and pedals to act as individual controls, separate to their control counterpart

What is your 16 digit Report Code? I don't have one?
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider? BT
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player

This file shows my issue, you can see the xbox buttons being shown, and next to accelerate/ brake, it's being controlled by L2/R2, which the pedals are acting as

Your wheel does emulate a XB controller.

Update the wheel from the Hori website via a PC.

Edit: No idea why I typed PS4 last night 😇

Hi, I really appreciate your response, although after updating the wheel, the issue regarding the pedals + steering has not been fixed. Do you know anything else I could try as I really am quite desperate. Thanks again

Try deleting any custom control schemes in-game. Exit the game. Disconnect the wheel.

Disconnect any other controller word or wireless.

    Follow the steps here

    https://stores.horiusa.com/xbox-one-product-troubleshoot/

Verify your game files in the EA app.

    Delete the hardware_settings_config.xml

Plug the wheel, launch the game. Test the default profile before customising and saving a scheme of your own.

Sorry to say, but that didn't work. I think it all boils down to the fact that steam thinks the PS4 WHEEL is an Xbox CONTROLLER, therefore meaning it cannot have a pedal function (since controllers don't have pedals). Is there any way to make Steam believe that it is a PS4 Wheel?

I really prefer a dxdiag as I'm finding it hard to recommend steps to take because I can't see the hardware and identify it.

Most of the Hori hardware is XB and it does emulate a controller. Updating steps are never not useful.

Broadly the steps are the same as I've highlighted and usually give some success but....

You have the hardware, I don't. It would make life easier if the dxdiag was mandatory. Maybe I'm over reaching, maybe I can't help.

Hey, would you like me to send you a dxdiag file? If so, what is that, and how can I send you one?
