How long before f1 equals team simulators

How many years do you think it will take before computers are powerful enough that the f1 game will be as realistic as the team simulators are now?

10 years?

They use 5 equations for suspension appearantly. Seems like a whole lot of equations simultaniously.

These  are the only footage and examples of what a real life f1 team simulator can do, that I can find. It's pretty secretive.

On a recent episode of Formula Why/F1 Explains episode, "Why do F1 teams need simulators", they went on about current available tech not being able to keep up with all the calcs and rendering output of current F1 sims, if I'm not mistaken.

It's on the latter half of the episode, with Alpine's Matt Harman.

Yeah alpine is the only one I know who've shown a bit of their sim.

Not much to see except a bit of vibration before hitting the apex.

It's very rare we get to see a real company simulator. Would love to see more.

    @ivun3 @mariohomoh

Maybe longer than 10yrs I'd say.

Take into account how much more powerful their simulations are compared to where we are playing a video game.

Moore's Law says computers double in 'power' every 18mths to 2yrs.

10yrs gives us a 1024x multiplier assuming 2yr doubling time.

I think the F1 teams' simulations are probably more than 1024x what we play with in-game.

How much more, I'm not sure as they are likely using some REALLY heavy computing (think Supercomputer level).

A supercomputing GPU farm could fairly easily come in at a 32,000x multiplier?

Having said that; 32,768x is only 15 years away!!

Haha, that sounds very exciting. Playing full f1 sim in my zero gravity spaceship in 2038, lol, who knows 😃

I'm already amazed at how much fun and realistic f1 23 is. Am absolutely loving it.

@FG44141  that video is made unavailable in my country. I told you f1 is very secretive. This is kind of funny.

As if they are developing military craft.

  • in one of the interviews with max verstappen, he was playing some rfactor 2. That interview was available on my country..

I remember he parked the car on track and gave full throttle in neutral untill the engine blew up, saw some smoke/fire coming from the back of his car. And then he went on with the interview.

Is that only available in my countries? Maybe they want to hide from great brittain that max's biggest secret is a simulator pc racing game. lol.
