After the patch from 28.06. I started a new myTeam career with 10 races, all of which I skipped. At the end of the season I was able to change the engine and the main sponsor and start a second season.
Sounds like it is only an issue for those who started their career before the patch then.
I've just finished season 2 and have just encountered this problem. Seen a few posts on Reddit today about it too
