Pixelated artifacts in center of screen during night races in VR

Product: F1 23
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
Summarize your bug Pixelated artifacts in center of screen during night races. I drive in VR specifically, not sure if this is also visible in other modes. I use a Pico 4 and drive the game on SteamVR via VirtualDesktop. I provided some screenrecordings where the effect is clearly visible.
What is your 16 digit Report Code?
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider?
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Drive in night races in VR and in the center of your screen there seems to be a weird pixelated area floating or moving around. It's seems to be some kind of reflection probably from the inside of the helmet or something, but in VR it's really distracting and annoying, mostly because it it is very pixelated/lowres or kind of weird from what you would want in the middle of the direction you are looking.
What happens when the bug occurs? Bad vision and distraction in VR.
What do you expect to see? Probably at least a higher resolution of the same effect or a way to turn it off in settings

Check this imgur link for videorecordings of the issue to make it more clear: videos

  • its been mentioned in here a couple times now but its because of volumetric fog messing witht he lighting you cant disable it ingame you have to use the config file doing this will fix it 100% [I have tested it in VR it works]

1: Set all graphics options to what you want depending on performance (including Lighting as high as you want, which is what the fog falls under).

    2: Open hardware_settings_config_vr.xml under Documents/My Games/F1 23/hardwaresettings (Save a backup!)

    3: Find the following line and change volumetricFog to "false". Example: <lighting quality="3" volumetricFog="false" volumetricFogMapWidth="1920" volumetricFogMapHeight="1080" />

note: if you change lighting settings after you have done this it will re-enable volumetric fog again so you will need to go re-disable it any time you change lighting effects

Same issue for me on pc 2k res I think. But the graphical atmosphere of volumetri  fog looks too good to play without it.

    hope it gets fixed soon.

  • F1 23 VR shaking

    I have the same problem!

Everything is shaking and my computer is the recommended configuration.

E.A and Codmasters fix the VR, it's shaking, the image is blurry.

Look at the attention you paid to the VR, you forgot to put your seatbelt on the driver.

The engineer next to the car is a black man with a white arm.

    Note 0 for the VR.

Hope they fix all the VR glitches.

Check out the game Asseto Corsa from 2014 and Iracing, it's a perfect VR game, and it has a seat belt in the Driver..

    Thanks.

  • @Cyle7777 What's your video card? and have you tried to reduce the graph?

I have a problem seeing the whole screen shake with VR does this happen there too?

@limy5yt93pq8 I have RTX 3060 Ti, but the issue occurs in ultra low or ultra high settings, no difference.

Can you elaborate on what you exactly mean with "the whole screen shakes with VR"?

And btw good points about some improvement in the details for VR in your previous reply. It really helps the immersion when these kind of things are also well modeled.

@ivun3I agree turning off the volumetric fog effect is a shame because in general it looks great. Just the annoying pixels in the middle of the screen should be fixed.
