Ranked Multiplayer ends after one lap bug

Hi,

cannot report a bug in the bug report subforum, as I cannot select anything in the product and platform dropdown and without I cannot send it.  ☹️ So I'll do it here.

Product: F1 23
Platform:Steam-PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
Summarize your bug: A ranked mutliplayer match ended after just one lap. This is the 3rd time I have noticed the problem. This time I have screenshots and the report code.
What is your 16 digit Report Code? AATX-BGRS-SMRB-JPXE
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider? Vodafone
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Ranked Multiplayer
Did you have cross-play enabled? Yes
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? The bug cannot be easily recreated. I played several ranked multiplayer matches (3 today) and overal have seen this problem only 3 times (one time today).

What happens when the bug occurs? When some car pass the start/finish line after the first lap, the race is over. You hear the winning cheer and every car afterwards is treated as finished the race. In the case today it seemed to the the fifth car, as 4 cars still where able to race the second lap. Afterwards the race was over. Luckily +0 points where given for the race (at least for me) so no loss.
What do you expect to see? Race should last the 13 laps which are normaly a 25% race length in Las Vegas.

  • @RaceKruecke if this is hard to replicate it’s probably online connection issues.

The cars that trigger the end of the race are they hosting?

More detail is required for investigation because without replication it’s not possible to identify the solution.

@SteveJacksonAs "cruser001" was the car which ended the race after the first lap I assume it was somehow related to him. But I cannot state if he was hosting the race. Can I see it from the stats in the end? I have done a couple of screenshots when the race was over, but of cource not from the lobby before start. Couldn't predict that this will happen.

I also don't know how it can be related to online connectivity. If he drops out, another driver would host the race as far as I know. And the bug doesn't seem to be related to "connectivity is lost" but more to a game bug which ends the race after lap 1 for whatever reason. It really sounds more like something programatically.

IIRC you can only see who is hosting from the lobby. Then, you can only see who becomes host if he disconnects and leaves from the next lobby.

Connectivity needs to be eliminated as a reason, also I assume you are connecting via cross play?

@SteveJackson  Well, that eliminates any kind of reports on errors which are not reproducible. Information you are requesting cannot be provided unless the whole f1 23 session is recorded somehow (which not many people do, if at all). Why not creating local logs which can help finding issues? At least I though the 16 digit report code would give the SW engineers at EA a chance to look into whatever online logs might exist. If thats not the case, then what is the report code for?

And yes, it was a crossplay lobby. F1 23 really works nice with crossplay lobbies. At least for me all problems with disconnects, crashes, hanging lobbies, hanging game completely disappeared with F1 23, so I really appreciate the work which has been done on that area compared to the former games.

In the end I just wanted to report a bug I have seen several times in the game (and maybe others), so EA/Codemasters can have a look. Your comments feel a bit pessimistic to me and - please don't feel offended - I would like to hear a comment from EA staff (as I understand you are not).

I will make sure your report code is passed on. @EA_Groguet

The more information you can provide to replicate the error means there’s more chance of it being investigated. With limited resources there is little point pursuing an avenue hoping to reproduce a fault when you have the option of replicating and then attempting to troubleshoot the cause.
