Well my point was it might not be a bug but I'd take your point that you'd like it changed either way. And to be fair it probably is a bug.

Yeah I though you were just trying to find an excuse for the issue so my bad for that!
Im very sure its a bug, I got spun by another car and got major floor damage, I then used a flashback and the same thing happened again but this time I got no damage. The same happened in a different race where I used a flashback early on and then had the AI hit the wall in such a angle that normally on sim damage would rip the tyre off or break their front wing but they were receiving no damage at all.
Below is and example of me having sim damage in albon crashing and taking no dameg
