Re: Full TC Test

People drive differently, is the only real answer there is to that question.

It also highly depends on your skill level as well. If you are driving 5 seconds off the WR pace in time trial for example, then chances are you will see a massive increase in pace using TC in any form. At least at first.

If you are driving at WR pace in time trial, such as the person in the video @Ultrasonic_77 linked. Chances are TC in any form will be slower.

Skill level really plays a part in what results anyone will get when it comes to testing assists in most racing games.

Assists are a really hard one to judge, and no matter the game, these conversations always come up. They even happen in regards to iRacing and rFactor.

I remember the same dicussion came up in regards to Dirt Rally 2.0 as well. At the time I was able to pace very close to WR pace, so I tested it for myself. For me, the assists was a lot slower. Greatly so in some regards. But that game, for most stages, relys on loss of traction in order to gain the fastest times on loose surface stages. So Traction control really slows you down, and ABS can even make it harder to weight shift on corner entry as stopping power is reduced.

  • @Ialyrn I understand but the whole discussion seems pointless to me then. If TC (or whatever assist) makes someone faster or slower, then each individual should choose what they prefer, either for personal preference or for an objective reason like time.

Discussing this on the topic of fairness or judging what other people do is probably irrelevant.

I think the OP raised a question about the behavior of the TC assist, not about how/when/if to use it.

The assists should be appropriate to the context of the game/sim, and not be overpowered or unrealistic in application.

TC should limit wheelspin, not adjust the suspension. For the top drivers it should be slightly slower as would be expected all else equal.

If people choose to use it and it helps them enjoy so be it. Personaly I’d like to compare myself to those using similar setups so filters would be my pref
