Re: Logitech G29 Force Feedback Loss When Starting Second Race/Session

@cutterisaacson Thanks for the tip. However, I just gave it a go and it didn't work for me ☹️ In fact this time when I alt-tabbed out and back in again not only was FFB still missing, but half the buttons on my Logitech G29 wheel (most notably the flappy paddles) were no longer responding. For me a complete quit back to desktop and restart seems to be the only way to get it back, making it more or less impossible to play more than one race/session in a row.

  • I haven't bothered testing it on the last few patches (or indeed played the game at all), so I thought I'd check in to see if anything's changed on the 1.12 patch, so I can hopefully start playing a game I paid £60 for!

Unfortunately on my very first attempt (starting one race, quitting, then starting another in quick succession) FFB once again stopped working. However, one of the workarounds I tried before with no luck (sort of similar to some of the those suggested above) was to unplug the wheel's USB cable from my PC and then re-insert it, causing the wheel to reset (re-calibrate?) and spin back into action. On the 1.12 patch this all of a sudden appears to work and FFB returns.

So there has to be something going on where the game loses contact with the wheel.

@EA_Groguet: Is there any way for a reset to be done in game so I don't have to keep unplugging the USB cable every time FFB disappears?

  • @EA_Groguet:  I just had FFB completely drop out a few times in a row. Luckily the work around of unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in again overcame the issue.

But I noticed that if I actually finish the race, then go back to the main menu to start a new one, FFB seems to work. But if I quit early to start a new race, it will be disappear (and I need to do the workaround I mentioned above). Obviously there's no way to "finish" Time Trial so it appears that quitting Time Trial and starting a race causes FFB to stop working.

  • This issue is still present for Logitech G29 wheels in the latest 1.15 patch.

  • Will this ever be addressed or even acknowledged?

Just to reiterate the problem I'm experiencing, on my Logitech G29 the Force Feedback, and occasionally certain buttons, will stop working if I quit a race early to start another. But if I complete a race, advance back to the main menu, then start another race (or Time Trial session), they don't stop working. So something happens in the process of quitting back to the main menu that doesn't when advancing back to the main menu following a completed race.

  • I had this again last night. I was in a Ranked Multiplayer race but Steam went down half way through so the session was terminated early and I was kicked back to the main menu. I thought I'd do a quick practice race while I waited for Steam to come back online, and in my single player race as I got off the start line I noticed FFB had disappeared again. I had to quit back to desktop and restart the game to get it back.

Surely I can't be the only one?

    My system specs are:
    Windows 10

RTX 3060 (with the latest Nvidia drivers)
Logitech G29 (using the latest version of Logitech G HUB 2023.9.473951, and all the wheel's firmware is up to date).

    @geezwHey buddy - they don't care.

Take a look at the community raised issues thread. Notice anything...missing from the list?

After the latest patch, most of the known issues were deleted as though they never existed. That's a pretty clear indication that EA doesn't care about those problems, and that they have no interest in patching. One of those issues used to be "FFB issues on multiple platforms."

Best of luck with your FFB issues. You aren't alone.
