Could be EA server issues or maybe your internet connection? The game spends a lot of time talking back and forth to the servers while in the various menus - way too much IMO. So maybe check your connection speed when you find this happening? Only thing I can think of as its usually OK for me - still not snappy but not as bad as it sound for you
