Rev limiter

Hi I'm having a problem with the rev limiter

I'm into my 2nd season with Aston Martin and I've updated my engine power to 4 out of 6 upgrades but keeps hitting the limit of 351 KPH

Why does this happen

Not that I play career, but....

what about the aero package and setup? If you're hitting the limiter the engine isn't the issue.

    Also, 218mph is pretty quick.

Moving the post to GD, as it's not quantified as a bug.

@lkjgmggWhat do you mean by "hitting the rev limiter"? Are you able to rev all the way up to the purple lights in 8th gear as in:
    🟢🟢🟡🟡🟣🟣
    and reaching 351kph?

Or you're not able to rev so high, ending up with:
    🟢🟢🟡⚪⚪⚪
But still reaching 351kph as you do so?

If the former, that's the max speed for your engine indeed.

If the latter, you're not hitting the "rev limiter". Your engine can rev higher, reaching a higher engine speed (RPM), but it cannot produce enough power to overcome drag. Drag increases with the square of speed, becoming exponentially harder to accelerate as you hit those high numbers. You can only aim at a more efficient aero package at this point – lift-to-drag or downforce-to-drag ratio, as in more downforce points with less corresponding drag.

Edit: Also bear in mind that engine speed (RPM) and wheel speed (your car speed) are linked. For any given gear and RPM, there's a corresponding speed. If you're, say, at 11000rpm in 7th gear and 307kph in your current engine spec, you'll always reach 307kph when you're at 11k rpm in 7th gear and vice versa.

Meaning unless you upgrade the PU, your speed will always be the same once you hit the rev limiter.

It's practically a single rod connecting the PU to the wheels. Once the engine cannot spin faster, the wheels will also not be able to spin any faster.

@SteveJackson Its not a bug its a failed feature and has nothing to do with aero or setup..

Even former handling dev David Greco has said this is a problem and developed a fix by himself

Problem is the gearbox for 3 cars is made so the rev limiter is 351kph, 13k rpm in 8th and no upgrades in career mode will change it.

Its a problem thats causing problems for later seasons when higher top speeds are common and these 3 cars (AMR, Merc and Williams) can never get higher than 351 kph. Not game breaking but fairly bad when the solution seems to be fairly simple so the devs should have a look at it.. Still correct thats its not a bug by definition but where would it belong then when its completely flawed desing?🤔

I can move the thread to Game Suggestions which is a far less noisy sub forum and will be read by game designers ahead of / during the next game dev cycle.

Technically a gameplay bug then, but I can tag @EA_rephii and move it.

I've got 4 out of 6 engine power upgrades

I've tried the low downforce set ups and still is hitting the rev limiter at 351 kph

Its not the set ups as I've tried many many set ups to make it faster

I've got 4 out of 6 engine power upgrades so which should make the engine power more than 351 kph but even with the upgrades and different faster set ups I hit the rev limiter without DRS at 351 kph

@lkjgmgg As i said above its not the engine or setup thats the problem its the limiter itself which doesnt get changed and stops you from going faster due to the limiter being set to 13k rpm, there is nothing you can do sadly
