These things must be in F1 24!

Hi guys,

with F1 23 being at an all-time low regarding F1 games, I dare even say it's worse than F1 2021, this is probably the final chance for EA SPORTS to prove that they can make F1 games just as well as FIFA.

The thing is: Just a new engine that gives us hope is not going to suffice. There's a reason why I won't preorder the game this year, and that's because I want to get a disc copy so I can return it if the game is another failure.

In order to prevent this from happening, F1 24 absolutely needs the following things:

  1. We finally need a new upgrade system. Whether you bring the R&D tree back with new things and improvements or make it in a style of Frontier's F1 Managers, I don't care. It's about high time we need something new, something fresh, a really big thing to hype us up into playing Career Mode.
  2. We need to be able to customize the calendar from Season 2 onward. Simply deleting tracks we don't want to play ain't going to cut it. It's a feature that F1 2021 desperately needed to make Melbourne Round 1 again, just as it must be, and now, with the real calendar being so frantically mixed up, this feature is required more than ever. And DON'T say that you can't do it because of licensing reasons, because this is just a lazy excuse. I can say that because other reliable sources that also want a new great F1 game said it.
  3. We need to be able to turn Sprints off. I already hated them in real life for obvious reasons, I hated them in F1 22, I hated them in F1 23, and I still hate them until today. Other people also said that they're not interested in doing two Qualifyings just because it's a Sprint weekend, and the old format is just pure garbage, as you might start in dead last through no fault of your own because your engine blew up or another driver ruined your Sprint.
  4. DON'T change the driver roster in the middle of the game's life. Keep the roster to what it was at Round 1, and if you absolutely need to add a driver because a driver transfer happened mid-season, don't delete the driver out of existence like you did with Nyck de Vries, just add them to the free agents so other teams can hire them if need be.
  5. I guess this one is a perspective thing, but with Max Verstappen saying he won't be in F1 for that much longer and Lewis Hamilton saying he won't stop until he gets another championship, I think it's smarter to give Lewis Hamilton a retirement immunity in Career Mode and have Verstappen retire after one or two seasons. Just because a driver like Max is still young doesn't mean they can't call it quits because they don't want to race in F1 anymore.
  6. Most importantly, don't just put your focus into F1 World regarding content for the Podium Pass. This made F1 23 not worth playing unless you just want to screw around offline or play online with a friend, but the player never had the need to purchase the VIP Pass or just grind out races to max their Podium Pass out.
  7. Could be another perspective thing, but as new My Team Icons, if you'll add new ones, I want Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, two drivers that I really liked in real life, especially Kimi with his ice cold personality.
  8. Rework mechanical failures. Over the course of my playtime in F1 games since F1 2021, Mercedes engines, and especially Mercedes cars themselves failed more often than any other engine available. This is completely unrealistic, as Mercedes engines rarely failed over the past decade in real life, and in the game, they apparently have a failure chance of 30% in every single race. And with my terrible luck, you know how easy it is to hit the failure chance. Compared to the other engines, they failed way more than Mercedes. I can only emphasize 2022, where in the first three races, four Honda engines failed, and don't get me started on Spain and Baku in the same year, where five or six Ferrari engines failed. I like the player faults, but they need a massive rework to make them worth using throughout the entire Career Mode.
  9. And finally, I hope that off-track interviews after a session make a comeback. We've seen this in Braking Point 2 with Natalie Pinkham, and I don't see this being impossible to bring back. Again, it's another perspective thing, but that's what made the Codemasters games so immersive.

If anyone at EA reads this, please take these suggestions to heart, because me and the entire community are longing for a worthy successor to F1 2020, and for three straight years, we've been disappointed. So let's hope that F1 24 will be just as we expected.

Good day,

Nico
