Other than that, I'm trying to be careful on the throttle so that I wouldn't spin out.
@LuckyNico92It's seems to be specifically an engine / gearing thing. I'm in an Alfa Romeo (haven't tried other cars yet), first few races of a career, no engine upgrades.
In the lower gears, you hold the throttle under 75%-ish, the engine will be a slow "nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn", then as soon as you gradually push it past around 75%, it's quite suddenly "NEEEEEEEERRRR". Even my rear tyres are starting to wear long before my fronts. I've never had this problem before with F1 23.
It's the way the engine / gears are reacting to the throttle being at a specific point, it's over-reacting. It only really stops doing it in 4th gear. I just remember this being a thing in F1 22.
Edit: My mistake, it's happening in 4th and 5th gears too. Just spinning the tyres up when I should comfortably have traction at the speed I'm travelling.

So just to follow up, it seems to be something specific to Alfa Romeo's engine, no idea if Ferrari have the same issue. No such problem with Williams, thankfully, which I've restarted my career with. Glad it's not my controller or the game as a whole, anyway.
