throttle goes to zero every few corners/laps

I have the exact same issue, however im using keyboard.
It is the most frustrating thing about the game, so many times im sitting in the middle of the road pressing the button as hard as I can and the vehicle is just.....sitting there. Has cost me a couple of races.
