ok so this was a thing on f1 2021 at launch too there was a work around so maybe try this
Host of the two-player career should go to: Multiplayer > Social Play > Create Custom Game > Choose 'No (Open)' Lobby > Settings > Lobby Options Change car category > F1 2021, then change car performance: realistic Exit to main menu Host loads back to their 2P caree
replace 2021 car with 2023 car

Both my friend and I tried this on Xbox Series X. We couldn'tget this to work with an existing two-player career. However, it worked when followed by creating a new career.

Thanks, this works, provided Crossplay is switched OFF. I note that on PC the work around doesnt work if Crossplay is ON

I am on PC (Steam) in a coop career with a PS5 Player (crossplay enabled) and the workaround works. You should try it again

This works! Only difference is that the “equal performance” option is in “simulation settings” now. I just did this and it fixed it in 2P career.
