Recently, I've noticed a sudden increase in the number of players exploiting a defect in the racing physics algorithm(s) of F1 23, Here are my observations watching drivers with TV Pod and Telemetry using this exploit to decrease their lap times and gain advantage.
The following settings are used:
- Braking Assist and Anti-lock brakes set to 'Off'
- Traction Control set to 'Off'.
- Shifting set to 'Manual'
Now for the exploit technique that defies racing physics and realism;
- Drivers intentionally lock up brakes skidding into turn entry and downshift into lower gear.
- Upon turn exit, they use hard acceleration in low gear and red-line engine RPM's to create rear wheel "burn-out".
- While holding engine RPM's at red-line and rear wheels continuing "burn-out", they rapidly upshift gears. This results in a rate of acceleration conditions that rival top-fuel dragsters or aircraft catapulted off an aircraft carrier deck. Maximum acceleration of a real-world F1 sanctioned car from 0 to 100 kph is around 2.5 - 2.7 secs.
- Exploit results in acceleration of 50-100 kph to over 300 kph in under 2.5 secs.
Anyone whose raced in real life knows this is simply impossible and unrealistic. As it would result in flat spotting your tires, wearing them out in a few laps at most. Not to mention a very fast engine failure due to excessive high (red-line) RPM's.
Yet, many F1 23 drivers exploit this defect to gain advantage which results in poor realism and unequal competition. It is cheat, no different than using "Cheat Engine" or equivalent to lessen curb weight, increase engine power, increase tire (tyre) traction while reducing wear rate.
The F1 23 game fails miserable to enforce real-life racing physics. Don't believe me, then watch this video or any "in-car" racing video and watch their racing techniques and prove me wrong.
Apparently no one disputes that players are exploiting a defect in Codemaster's F1 23 app to cheat. Someone show me a video of any F1 car and driver who races like that on a real track. You can't. They'd have to change tires (tyres) at least every2-3 laps from flat-spotting them on every corner entry. That's about $10-12K/set of tires (tyres) eaach stop. If lucky, their $15M engines might last a "Sprint Race" distance before it becomes scrap metal.
BTW - In that YT video, the MotoGP rider had to hold back power during early acceleration to keep the front wheel down. Once he hit 4th gear you could see the full 260 BHP put the rest of the field to shame.
