I am having the same autosave issue while using the Logitech g923. When using a controller I have no issues, only when using the wheel.
I also remember starting the console with a controller and then later switching to the wheel, this also gave no problems.
It seems to only happen when I start the console with the wheel already connected.

If you find any further information that helps identify what does and doesn't work (such as launching with a controller connected as suggested by @34e3083bfac06122) then please let us know in this thread.
I have tired it the way suggested a few times, no luck. My issue appears to be more apparent in my team. I tried to do a mid session save in FP1 and it wouldn’t save either. I can make it one or two rounds in story or world mode, beyond that nothing. Very frustrating, unplayable.
@Hoobiechoobie Launched with the controller, had no error messages, all looked good, and drove with my wheel aswell.
- @frgggman I tried this and still got auto-save and disconnect errors.
