Your AI Difficulty Quali vs Race

As people are reporting very different experiences with the differences in quali vs race pace I wondered if there was a connection to something.

In previous games I had to raise the difficulty for races about 5-7 clicks to have a challenging race compared to quali.

In this years game it's roughly the same, pre-patch I lowered the difficulty for the race by 2 clicks, now by 1 click to add some more action, because if I stay at the same difficulty I probably gonna stay where I am in the race.

However, others are reporting they have to lower the race difficulty much more, and some still report the same differences like in previous games with higher race difficulties.

So I would be interested in your average difficulties in race and quali. We all know on some tracks it's a bit different than on others. And then I would also be interested if you're using assists, and what setups you use, specifically default, downloaded or self crafted

For me it's:

Avg quali: 106

Avg race: 105

Assists: None

Setups: Self crafted, also adjusted in practice sessions to fit the current career car.

  • For practice sessions I drop it considerably. For Qualifying and Race I keep it the same.    Normally Qualify exactly where my car performance ranking says.  but make up 3-5 places at start.  Then have fun chasing those in front down.

Race pace is considerably faster than qualifying pace.   Except last few laps when my tyres are dying and the Ai start pushing regardless of how dead their tyres are.

Will say havnt played since patch so not sure how the new Ai speed will effect my current Ai difficulty.

i´m using 75% because that´s hit the same lap times of real drivers comparing with race times, driving on g27 without any assist, with default setup without changes

i´m never does qualify, and start in last position, because qualify is broken how you knows

  • Because you use a qualifying setup for the race.

you make the perfect setup for that single lap with full ERS and than you bring that setup in race and wonder why it sux and you have to lower the difficulty

It's not realistic the setup you guys use for a 100% race.

Race is about saving tire and consistency what you use is a single lap tire burning setup but than complain race is too hard :/ and qualy is too easy try to make a setup that balance those 2 aspect and you will see it will make sense

  • So probably the fact you are blind is part of the problem

  • It's incredibly bad for me. On 110AI in quali I easily get into Q3 in any car even in the AlphaTauri but in the race the AI fly pass me on the straights like I'm not even there, even though I am faster in the corners. At first I thought it was a setup issue but no matter the setup it's always the same. I haven't found an ideal difficulty for the race because it's simply not fun being way faster than you should be in the car that you drive.

    I have the same problem.

In Quali, the AI is much too light. I drive without assists.

Even with a Haas I get into Q3 without upgrading the car.

Most of the time I end up in 4th-6th place with 105 AI.

In the race, you literally go down. The AI is much much faster and you are passed through. Unfortunately, you can't quite determine the AI level.

The problem must be addressed again by Codemasters.
