Currently playing two player career with a friend

Is it just me or does the ai not give you space around corners, spin you out, crash into you and not get damage, but whenever i play solo career none of that ever happens its only ever two player career

Online AI have long been more aggressive i think. I remember years ago watching the old school YouTuber championship on F1 2016, i think, and just seeing how bad it was is crazy.
