Because you are in a train and want to recharge instead of overtake.

@CarsonFF1 But in a train set to none and you will go backwards. Medium is a mild recharge use that on the straights that and none in the slow sections where it’s single file racing line and you won’t get swamped

@Darthsausage44 If you have nobody behind you and you're getting pulled along nicely with slipstream and DRS, and it's beneficial to stay behind the car in front for a few more corners, I use 'none' on a straight.
Sometimes in this game, it doesn't pay off to be leading in a close battle. If you lose DRS, you lose a lot of time!

recent league race in Vegas, everyone kept using 'none' on the main DRS strip. Nobody wanted to lead the race with 5-6 cars queueing up behind you. It was a tactical battle to the final lap. Everyone wanted to keep a full battery.

@SDGMatt Exactly right. Havnt been watching F1 e-sports off late. But I remember a few drivers mentioning it’s better to follow someone else ad they will use their ERS in effort to pull away from you. Because if they don’t they know on last lap they will have no answer when car behind uees ERS to breeze past
