I can't see much improvement in the AI DRS ERS trains since the latest patch. All I see is 3 DRS trains separately now.
Definitely more work required, it's far from realistic at the moment.
I know it's not as simple as this, but whatever you did for the AI in F123, please do the same for F124.
Agree that there is no real improvement on the ai drs/ ers trains. Perhaps suggesting it isn't really a ers issue.
I think it is a combination of 3 things.
Drs being slightly too powerful
Dirty air being almost non existent.
The teams being too evenly matched on race pace. The same clumps of teams are in drs trains every race.. mclaren/ merc/ ferrari... alpine / rb.. Williams/ stake / haas... need more variance in race pace.. more strategy.. maybe more tyre wear to stop these races just falling into 3 drs trains and big gaps in between where you have massively boring races.

I do think the drs Is overpowered. It's too easy to sit behind the AI and rely on DRS alone. It also makes it extremely difficult to break away.
- 8 months ago@ADunky I will say it once more, DRS is the most realistic it has ever been, they cant change it!
However the dirty air and all its downsides are ridiculously low and dont even affect the AI much..
The dirty air downforce loss ingame is meant to be 6% i guess - can only guess as they added some things i dont quite understand apart from differing the downforce loss for front and rear DF.. However F1 drivers have said this year the dirty air is more similar to 2019-2021 which was about 45%..
Also the AI DONT have any engine overheating while following another car which is extremely bad for the game. While it shouldnt be extreme, even 2% less engine power while within 1s of another car would make it harder to follow, same goes for tyre temps which are also not working in any meaningful way for the AI..
Add those 3 together and you have proper realistic following of other cars, even if tuned down a bit to not make casuals annoyed- IanM2828 months agoSeasoned Ace
An observation I've also made with the AI and depending on your AI difficulty setting, it is hard to break away from them. This was never the case in F123 which to this day had the best AI of any.
I can break DRS occasionally early on, but it's like the AI are automatically programmed to send a driver out of the pack to hunt you down and reel you back in. Then the rest of the front pack follow.
I don't mind this if it's realistic. But if I'm driving in a top team with fast race pace, despite either using up battery or not they always seem to reel you back in. Unless it's set on an easy difficulty.
I'll say it again, the AI straight line speed on some tracks is so unrealistic and enjoyment sapping. Just as it was in F122.
I honestly do think there is huge potential in F124, I really do. There are a lot of things I like over F123.
Unfortunately until the awful AI issues are fixed it's a considerable departure from F123.
Needs much more work.
