F1 2024 General Feedback

Hey devs, offering some feedback given my time playing F1 2024:

- Suggestion: VR to use OpenXR.

I play exclusively in VR and its a real shame that the current VR implementation isn't making use of more modern APIs.

- Suggestion: Dynamic difficulty.

Currently I'm finding that the difficulty is odd to control to make the game challenging and fun, without having to adjust the difficulty per track or when changing cars / teams.

I've read various guides saying I should adjust the difficulty based on how much I beat the AI during qualifying.  I can still qualify in P1 with a +0.5 gap to P2 and then still win by 20 seconds + against the AI

During longer races (either long or full setting) the AI has a consistently slower lap time which adds up to a stupid gap.

Everyone wants a different challenge and I like to win, but winning by lapping everyone or 20+ seconds feels a little hollow.

A better solution would be to have a dynamic difficulty where the AI will simply speed up / slow down to keep pace with options to overtake if your pace is significantly lower or you make a mistake, but then slows its own pace to give you the chance to overtake.

- Improvement: Dynamic goals

I really like the dynamic goals, but they seem a little random and some are completely stupid.  For example I'll be told to box, and then get the dynamic goal for a 'fast lap'?  Or I can be keeping my head above water with ERS at the limit, only to get an ERS goal to save some up?..

It would be great if there was some sort of strategy behind the dynamic goals, or reason behind them.  For example, "we want to increase the gap between you and car behind, so lets to a hot lap", or "We want to be ready for a hot lap, so save some ERS" that sort of thing.

0,5 sec/lap is 5 sec in 10 laps, 15 sec in 30 laps. So nothing strange with you winning with 20 sec of you race 50%

Yes I agree, but my issue is that during the race lap times will naturally fluctuate, but it seems that even my bad laps are better than the AI good laps.

My point being is simply a static system means that its hard to get that nice balance where you feel challenged by not overwhelmed.

    I'd also add:

    - Pick our own practice programs.  Some tracks I know better than others, so I'd want to run the 'track climatisation' program.

    - Show the 'default' or 'recommended' setup.  Currently I find the default works just fine, but if I change the break balance it goes to 'custom' and if I didn't check before I started I have no idea what setup is 'recommended' for the track I'm on.  Would be good if I can experiment with other setups and still know what the default setup is to go back to.

    - Show practice program data in VR.  A lot of the practice data (like fuel burn & tire deg graphs) don't appear in VR.

    - Save break balance between sessions.  I run a one shot qualify, and regardless of what break balance I have during practice this value is always reset to the setup default, meaning my first few seconds in the one shot qualify session is frantically changing the break balance setting.  Even better if we can SEE the break balance value on the MFD.
