By the looks of PC system req which are the same as F1 23 I think it's safe to say it's the same engine. They still need the PS4 and Xbox One playerbase.

Actually we cannot tell yet.
Unreal Engine 4 is also supported on PS4 and XBox-One since 2014, so using it would not eliminate those platforms.
Another clue: on the offical page there is no disclaimer for EGO as it was in F1 23

Additionally, it is still not officially confirmed that it will be on PS4 and XBox-One (at least not that I am aware of). I posted links on Amazon where you could see PS4-Versions of F1 24 in another thread in this forum, but these were only up for a couple of hours. So maybe they were not official and a mistake:
EDIT: I just see that the links are back again today.... so may be this is the confirmation it will really be on PS4? But still this would not say they they did not switch to UE4 .... but it eliminates UE5 ... ;-)

@seichrotiererOn PlayStation store it’s available to preorder on both PS4 and PS5
Edit… I just saw your edit.

Seeing these two videos about WRC (where Codies also switched form EGO to UE4), I am not sure I want an engine change at all ... (on PC)

A quick Google suggests UE5 can be used to produce PS4 games?

I mean by performance not by "technically possible". Would EA dare ..... ???? Well, ok, they would ..... !!!

Yup. My money is with yours. I doubt the game would be out early if it was an engine rewrite.
Plus sys req.

WRC on my PS5 now runs silky smooth since last patch.

I read the reviews and it is on PC where the review said that side by side the EGO games were actually visually superior at this point.
But optimisations for speed (on UE) might have sacrificed the visuals. Once the devs learn the ropes I’m sure it might mean the end to the type of bugs we see with gameplay. Might become different types of bugs, but hey.
They intimated the EGO engine was reaching its limits (with map sizes specifically) but if the stuff is brimming the pot then that’s when spills occur.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@SteveJackson I was thinking performance issues maybe be a case off new game on a new engine that is or was unfamiliar to Codemasters after years of using EGO. Plus with WRC apparently not as popular as it once was. Im guessing the money men crunched the numbers and came up with a disappointingly smaller development budget than the team had hoped. As the game is noticeably lacking in things that doesn’t directly affect gameplay. Such as cinematic cutscenes.
