PSVR2 Support

Voice commands on current hardware are not supported. The features available to developers on the PS4 and Xbox1 are no longer available to us on current hardware so its not likely to return in future games unless these features are added by MS/Sony.

That was posted by EA back in april last year. So unless Sony have added that feature in then voice commands will continue not to be available.

With regards to the PSVR2 support, there isn’t anything concrete to say whether it will be supported or not but im sure EA will confirm this in due course 

Almost zero chance of PSVR2 being added.  Sony have paused production off the headset due to disappointing sales plus cancelling VR projects by their own studios.  70+ million consoles sold and just a millionish headsets sold.   Only reason GT7 has PSVR2 support is because it’s a Sony game.    The fact that no other new AAA game has it regardless off genre should tell you something 

FYI I’m a PlayStation fanboy.  Had every single PlayStation.  But VR just doesn’t interest me or overwhelming majority off PS5 owners 

It's probably worth mentioning other games are still being ported to PSVR2.  Not everyone has completely given up on the hardware yet.  Sony definitely not helping the situation with a lack of games from their side, especially with no Astrobot title currently.

It would be good to get EA's response to what the situation is with the F1 games for PSVR2.  At the moment it's all a guessing game.

The reason why nobody is buying the headset is because developers are too lazy to add support into their games so its a catch 22 situation. Racing games should be a given for support seeing as the genre is perfect for the device. It's also a real shame EA didn't see notice the positive effect GT7 had in the VR market or read any of the posts on social media where on practically every page people are asking if PSVR2 support will be added. The demand is there and it can only grow their product to a different audience who might not otherwise be interested in F1 on flat screen. 

If the game engine cant handle VR then a dev should come out and say it's not something they can offer right now but will look into if when they shift to unreal. At least then people will know and would appreciate the transparency. Instead we get zero feedback and time and resources spent on modes like F1 life that nobody wants or asked for. Heck I would even pay £10 for a VR upgrade if its the lack of monetization EA are worried about. Just sums up the overall lack of ambition for these games and the cut and paste attitude we get every year. 

Can’t remember where I saw it.  But in a statement Sony made relating to pausing PSVR2 and cancelling related projects.  Their projections are that all VR platforms will become mainstream in 2 years.  

You can’t  blame game  developers for not adding support to their games  when just 1 in 70 PS5 users has VR.  Big co-operate gaming studios follow trends.  They will wait until they are sure there are large profits to be made.   

It’s a Sony product who also happen to also be one of the biggest game publishers with countless studios they could use to push out better quality VR games which obviously would help increase VR popularity.   But they have only added it to GT7 which has already been on sale for well over a year and sold millions.  So no risk to Sonys margins  adding it.  As it’s  obviously the best choice to add VR.  And the other is one of the Horizon games which I think was developed for VR.     That’s pretty much it:

other major titles that have added it are also older games that have made their money so again.  No risk for those studios to add it.  As I dare say it was more to do with those studios experimenting with and familiarising themselves to PSVR2.  

But considering the amount of AAA games that are bombing on release. Suicide Squad for instance.   Developers are not going to spend resources for a small minority of VR players..  To a brand new game that  may not sell well on launch.

F1 game sales have fallen year on year with last year being the biggest fall.   

Yes it’s a catch 22.  But that’s not the fault of AAA studios.  Especially as we all know how aggressively they use in game micro transactions.  They will only add it when they are positive their is a profit to be made.

I dare say it’s awesome bit  off kit as I see GT7 players using it loving it.  But even so.  1 PSVR2  for   70 PS5s sold.   VR has been around since 90s and was the next big thing but has always struggled to gain traction. Same as 3D TVs we’re the next big tech must have.  Lasted about a year.  I do not know a single person that has a 3DTV.      

Plus Sim racers still prefer triple screens  over VR.  Because they are more versatile as Sim racers like to add various things such as handbrake and/or a sequential/H shifter.  Things you can’t see when you’re wearing a headset.  

As I said not a single AAA title out off dozens that have released over last 6 months has PSVR2 support.     I think  headsets sales need to be ten times higher before it becomes a thing.

Yes sadly F1 24 will not have PSvR2 support but I did notice during time trials on F1 23 that on average PS players make up 51% of the players of that mode, so the rest being split w PC and Xbox, the PC VR user base is possibly smaller than the potential PSVR2 user base. Of course don’t know the breakdown of PS4 or how many current PS 5 F1 series users own VR but its interesting. So maybe better value to dump the PC VR and add the PS - would generate some buzz and probably easier to support.

Sony haven't stopped production, there clearing the backlog  

I have a contact who does SIM work for Codemasters, i asked the question about PSVR 2 support well before the launch trailer. He said hes asked the question and got told to wait until the launch trailer but its not a no. Its been nearly 2 months and still no support. 

IF EA ARE READING, PLEASE BRING PSVR 2 SUPPORT 

I will pass all this feedback on to the CM’s to feedback into the devs. However, with the plethora of issues with the game in its current state, i likely don’t see it happening for this year’s game
