I think perhaps too much is being read into Sony's actions towards PSVR2 and the impact that has on PSVR2's future. Apparently there are 2 un-announcement Sony backed PSVR2 games in the works. This is in addition to at least 4 major VR games (Wanderer, Behemoth, Alien, Metro) coming to multi VR platforms including PSVR2 this year. There is a VR Games Showcase coming on 15th August which will include AAA games for VR systems including PSVR2.
The main point here is PSVR2 is part of the growing appeal of VR gaming. It's success isn't dependant on Sony first party exclusive games, it's success is based on it getting quality games regardless of who makes it. PSVR2 offers the best version of any VR game due to it being a powerful singular setup, something that Quest 3 coupled with a PC cannot offer due to the multitude of PC setups.
I personally think there has been a lot of over reaction with claims that PSVR2 is DOA. I see no signs of there being a cut in third party quality games being made compatible with it going forward and if true that Sony are involved in two new games for the headset, then that is pretty good as there is not exactly a mass of PS5 exclusive games they are making either.... and it's not like the PS5 is suffering.
VR is growing and I personally think more developers should put more into it, especially with games that suit it best like racing games...I'm looking at you F1 games!
