@Nuvolarix I will test it thoroughly after work but going by pure numbers overheating doesnt cost much grip and from a different test i did even 160° temps didnt wear the tyres like crazy it felt like, but i didnt check properly for that, as i said i was actually testing something different, will give an update in about 12 hours😂

@Nuvolarix So going from ideal temps to surface temps peaking at over 200° and carcass temp averaging over 200° the wear is probably around 30-35% higher but even if its closer to 40% this test was even over the absolute maximum, so vastly exaggerated.. worst case the temps will likely only cause 5-10% more wear compared to perfect temps which is something but not worth sacrificing a lot of pace for..

The tyre temps effect on grip however was a bit more interesting.. carcass temps averaging between 1500° and 2000° and surface temps going up to 1000° degrees.. Obviously completely unrealistic and just modded so that all the temps are non stop at the maximum grip loss and the result was about 3 seconds slower than with ideal temps which funny enough is more affected by the surface temps than the carcass temps.. But again thats the exaggerated example, with carcass temps at 130° and surface at 150° the grip loss would only cause less than 1.5s slower laptime but those surface temps would rarely be so high throughout the lap so the effective time loss would rather be 0.5-1.0s per lap.. IMO not worth sacrifing mechanical grip for 2-3 degree less tyre temps if you feel much more comfortable with a setup change also not changing much between different compounds at race temps..

The testing was only done on C3 tyres at Qatar but is comparable - on some tracks more extreme on some less.
