@SDGMatt While their philosophy regarding communication certainly isn't helping things, my gut reaction for why things are so bad is the "spaghetti code" they've got going on because they probably haven't done a clean build since 2016. Every year they just keep adding, changing and subtracting stuff and now the files are just a complete mess. So whenever the go the change something it either doesn't work or has unintended consequences.
As to why it doesn't get caught during QC, I can only assume it is somehow being tested in a more isolated environment or there is a difference between the OS on the dev kits and the live OS on our end.

Can we get some information about the process involved with creating patches for the game?
I think a lot of us are genuinely curious, especially around how the work/fixes are tested and approved before going live for players to download.
I'm really baffled as to how Patch 1.14 notes say "reduced tyre smoke" and yet when we download it, devs are now having to investigate "excessive tyre smoke"
How did that happen? This isn't a case of the patch not working... It's gone completely the other way and made the problem even worse!
Did any testing take place?
Did someone approve that work?
If they really did reduce the smoke in-house, how did it have the complete opposite effect for players in the patch?
Is there a difference between what the devs play/test the game on to what we play it on with console/PC?
As a hardcore player of this series for over 15 years, I've always been loyal and supported Codemasters with the games. But I'm really feeling massive frustration and disconnect with this year's game and a lot of that is coming from a total lack of communication and information from the devs and creators. Back in the day we used to have open dialogue and feedback regularly from guys like Stephen Hood and Paul Jeal. Now we don't even get acknowledgement when we take time to complete bug report forms and supply info, clips and details. Nothing!
Is it fair to assume that this is why a patch to fix a bug can have the opposite effect and make it worse?? Because nobody takes the time to come and talk to us and ask for information?
There is a total breakdown of communication, and that's being reflected in the quality of the game.
- @AndianoAG PC players won't notice this is becauce most of us have particle effects turned off since day 1

Why would you want to help the people behind you ?
This is some real Spy Hunter stuff.. I can't believe this is an issue.
- SDGMatt12 months agoSeasoned Ace@Cpayne32 That wouldn't really resolve the problem for the player unless you were driving backwards. The problem is other drivers in front of you creating the smoke.
Be a good tactic if you're leading the race! Throw up a smoke screen behind you and watch everyone in your mirrors hit the wall!! For console players a workaround that i have seen is to turn ABS on. I know its not a fix but its something that should reduce it
- Nellix8212 months agoRising Ace@EA_Groguet You've been investigating for 10 years for all the thousand bugs but they never solve anything so where is the lie? in this response or in the team that manages it? sincerity would pay rather than making fun of us

Xbox. X offline and solo and no smoke issue. Is it online only? Or because I use TC?
