Top speed clipped?

Wondering if anyone has experienced this... Playing multiplayer in Belgium... Both long straight sections my top speed was limited too 300-310 kph... Tried the exact same setup in TT... Top speed was 335+

I checked the damage screen - nothing.

Checked my input for throttle - getting 100%

Thoughts?

Or should I just move on and chaulk it up to this horrible excuse for an F1 game?

@TrovaMB I recently tried different aero setups for Portimao Time Trial whilst practicing for a league race. I can’t remember exact numbers, but I did notice that running a rear wing of 5 only reached 207mph crossing the line, in contrast to running a rear wing of 38 reached 205mph.
Running low aero seems to have a much smaller effect on straight line speed in this game compared to previous years.
On Sunday, our league raced in Austria, and I took a gamble on a 26-12 aero, which I thought would be OP on the straights. I could barely keep up on the run to turn 3 against drivers running 38-26 aero.
Perhaps it’s a lack of downforce getting on throttle creating a slow entry to the straights?

@SDGMatt Interesting observation. My setups were the same tho, ~25kph difference.

@TrovaMB Multiplayer would mean track and air temp has an effect, and of course tyre wear and the amount of rubber down on the track. Time Trial would be optimum conditions.
It’s interesting to see the big difference between the 2 speeds for you, though!

@SDGMatt Hmmm,, again good points. Lap 2 was where I made my observations, DRS open, ERS active... I generally don't notice tire wear for the first few laps... Also my setup has zero rear wing... So my top speed should be approaching 345 on the long straights. Belgium typically has long enough straights to hit that even if I don't have a, perfect launch from the corner...

Do you use manual gears? Your revs at the bottom of Eau Rouge could play a part in reaching top speed. Also fuel load up the hill can cause the car to bottom out through lowered suspension that you don’t have in Time Trial. This would even cause a clip in speed as you ride the curbs through there.
A zero rear wing would also cause the rear tyres to slip a lot more and break traction.
There are MANY variables, and if it’s an intentional aspect of the handling model, then that’s probably a good thing!

@TrovaMB What ERS mode do you use in Multiplayer when you check your speed? Medium deployment does deploy ANY ERS at 317kph and starting to drop from 295.. Also ERS is very potent at high speed so that power dropping off makes an actually huge difference, which is why Overtake is also so strong, because it allows to blast fully through to the point where drag limits your speed while at Medium deployment the drag has a minor role in comparison to the lower power output. In time trial its always hotlap mode which is also deploying energy higher up the top speed
