Why won't my pit crew put me on inters in career?

You can manually change what tires you get during a pitstop through the MFD (I believe you can change it right up until you cross the pit line) or you can wait from your engineer to contact you suggesting a change of strategy. If you try to pit without doing one of those the crew is just going to put you on the next compound from the pre-race strategy.
