Game preloaded, why the wait until May 27?

I don't understand the logic behind releasing the game for people who pre-ordered it on May 27th, a day in the middle of the work week, instead of today, with the whole weekend ahead. The game is ready, and it can be pre-loaded. So why not release it today for people who pre-ordered the Iconic Edition?

I wish I could ask EA directly, but their only method of contact is that chat box, and hilariously, its answer to my question is:

You cannot play F1 25 this weekend because the release date for F1 25 is on June 16, 2023, not this weekend. The game will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on that date.

So I guess F1 25 was released in 2023?

Come on guys, we spent good money on this game, even with the 15% discount. Let us play this weekend!

  • The release date for the standard edition is 3 days later than the iconic edition so surely that is a benefit in itself.

The dates are final and won’t be changed so my only advice is to be patient and wait a few more days

    1. I'll be patient when I die.
    2. It's ridiculous to have the game ready to go to the point where people can pre-load it and make us wait until Tuesday when we have the whole weekend ahead of us. If anything, it would be better for EA, because the more people playing the first build, the more bugs will be found and reported, and they can fix more of them before the main release date.

Well if they let people play today, then they would have had to open pre-load up on Tuesday, which means you would have made this same thread wanting to play then... so would you just prefer they don't allow pre-load & early access?

Pre-load (which should be really called just download) was open for several days before yesterday. I don't care about that. My point is that it would've been great for people who pre-ordered the most expensive version to be able to play during this weekend, rather than Tuesday during the work week.

  • Easy......the team wants the weekend off before the headaches start.

    Who can blame them?

While I feel your frustration, and share it, the method to their madness is that a midweek launch means lower server traffic. It allows them to trouble shoot with lower traffic. It is in effect doing a soft-launch without using the term.

Well, I can assure you that they don't have the weekend off. I'm guessing from the fact that I just opened the EA app and F1 25 had an update available, which wasn't there yesterday.

Besides, I would love to see crazy stuff happening. I saw some videos on YouTube bashing F1 23 and 24 where they were showing bugs that were hilarious, like cars flying and all kinds of really weird stuff. I got F1 24 in February, and I never saw any of that, so I guess it was pretty well polished by then, but I would love to see at least some craziness.

That update could be something that was scheduled to release for users in time for the release of the game.

    Hey there,

Games have their launch dates scheduled for a long time in advance. There are long and difficult campaigns organised to make sure everything is ready for the desired dates. That being said, games are available to be downloaded before launch to make sure that as soon as the doors open, you can play.
