I'm happy they've looked at it as it's been a little stale for a few years. I still liked it due to the new drivers coming through F2 every year and i'd give myself a different task each year to keep it a little fresher.
However, last years F2 field was pretty dry. The main drivers I was interested in hiring as my teammate (before they announced you'd actually have to hire two) had the gall to already be called up by real teams already.
I've never been a fan of the Owner/Driver dynamic. I always advocated having two fictional characters. One being the owner and one being the driver but this new dynamic of two real drivers is better, just not something I expected they actually would do.
Sadly, it's come on a year where i'm just not bothered by the F2 drivers. Or the Icons. My Hail Mary was the F3 drivers as I would have hired Montoya, Beganovic, Lindblad, etc. Instead they searched the dregs of what could be scraped off the barrel so that's disappointing. If you can hire other F1 drivers straight off the bat then that would be a saving grace, but I don't see that happening.
I've always hated the starter player liveries (and still disliked the later ones that were easier to work with) so i'd have been happy to get the pre-order just to get the two realistic-looking ones... but then they supposedly make the player liveries better so now i'm torn on that until I see how it turns out. I expect you'll still get the one lousy starter livery and then you have to pay, or heavily grind the podium pass, to get a second that you can work with. I don't see that aspect of the start of the game changing.
Having not played the game, nor watched much of the MyTeam deep-dives and discussions, i'm not sure what this new revamp actually entails. I think it'll be okay in terms of the idea of how it's supposed to work. Whether it works as intended is questionable. Alot of changes / new things (in all game series, not just this one) are glitchy and prone to errors but I feel like the key focus is the F1 World aspect of the game so they'll not be too bothered about improving the MyTeam experience, as long as it is functional.
