Hi guys,this is probably the biggest flaw I have seen so far in F1 22.I recently played Qualifying in Canada, and got a 1:12 something, I was in the top 5 after that lap. And then, I skipped time forward and ended up in 18th, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz beating Vettel's real life Qualifying record from 2019, both of them having a 1:10.0 to be precise.I expect such performance from AI Level 110, but this is just level 80, so unless the simulation of Qualifying times is horribly broken, I'll just say my verdict is, the AI is heavily OP in Qualifying and I will never take pole position.Until an AI retraining or simulation fix is forthcoming, I will drop the difficulty. I might be dominating races with an Alfa Romeo then, but I honestly don't care. The problem with the AI exists, I can't let it off, and the fact that the AI doesn't destroy me on several tracks anymore doesn't change the fact that the simulation is broken and needs a fix.If this is worked out and fixed, I will increase the difficulty again, but for now, I will drop down to 71 maybe.- Nico

AI does seem to have the same glitch were they go too fast when you fast forward in quali or the race gets simulated because of a retirement. In quali if you don't want to spend too much time, do like me. Fast forward till the first AI car is about to start his flying lap, then you live the garage by yourself and do the outlap, flying lap and inlap (never pick return to garage if there is any AI doing a flying lap). After every AI has finished their laps you can fast forward again till you leave again at the end of the session. This works with me and saves some time to.

When you go to flying lap for qualifying progress ers is already set to hot lap when you take control off the car in final sector before you begin your hot lap. So it would surprise me if the simulated part off the outlap Has your car at maximum attack.switching car to lean on in and out laps is also kinder to engine and gearbox.And then the final way to keep wear down. Is to select full races calendar. If you select 16 race season. The game still simulates the 6 races off wear that you skip/kids than adds it during one off your actual races. Not sure how’s it implement. If it works out as 6 races at 10% wear per race = 60% and then equally shares it out over your 16 race season. Or if it’s a case it adds 10% extra wear to the next race after the one you miss. say you miss Bahrain and go straight to Jeddah If by the end off that race you’ve also had the simulated wear from Bahrain. Which I think is how it works.As I’m useless and hate Monaco I race it but just do practice programs the. Select all new parts. Take penalties then Start from last place and being a manchild I keep on the max power and ers into first bend and try and take as many ai cars out with me🙄😂helping reduce overall wear and getting all new parts.

A bit more time consuming but the best way to do it. In Q2 I also make sure I finish my flying lap before the flag drops because of left to the AI to drive back, it adds quite a bit of tyre wear, so you have to start the race with more wear than needed. This was F1 2021 though...

As far as I’m aware ai post faster times when accelerating time during qualifying sessions and has done this on every f1 game cm has developed

I thought something was going on with qualifying times, it's a bit of a shame how CM punishes you for not having enough time/not wanting to spend 18 - 50 mins (depending on if you're on short or full quali) on the game

That's not even the worst case scenario: I just DNF'd because I lost the rear end, and race winner Carlos Sainz had a fastest lap of 1:13.396. Just as a reminder, the fastest real life lap time in a race in Canada came from Bottas in 2019, a 1:13.078.
And guess what, I put the AI down to 71 for the race, which is supposed to have them go 9 tenths slower according to the AI Level Formula that we have. 3 levels higher, and Sainz would have matched the real life record. That's absolutely insane, if you ask me.
I understand if Codemasters say they up the difficulty with every game, but this is the first example of overpowered AI I have ever encountered in F1, and the second case in total, the first case being Gran Turismo 7.
I think I will stick to level 60 until an AI patch comes out, because this AI Pace is insane.

@LuckyNico92 Regarding the laptime its not wholely the AI thats broken.. While i must admit this year more tracks seem within the tolerance for 1-1.5s laptime faster than IRL (on a game you can risk more etc.) Canada is an obvious track which way too much grip. Always was the case too. Just like last year when the time trial laps were like 1.07.7, 110 AI was 1.07.6.. And for 2021 the laptimes would have been around 1.11.0 (adding the average gap to 2019 laptimes). So its 3.4s faster now when we apply all upgrades that are done in career modes (im expecting it was in career mode) its fairly close to that gap...

However as our fellows said above its a known problem (or by design) that AI is OP in qualifying when you fast forward time. Has been in the game at least since 2019 or even earlier.

Im just playing around with starting and doing a few races then restarting a new myteam trying out different mode and Engine suppliers along with seeing what r&d upgrades you get from press interview answers.

Cause only thing a can see happening with the current state off everything is if I get into a serious my team career. My new shiny dual sense being launched at my overpriced newish Sony tv. Only thing harder than getting them to buy me a replacement tv and pad would be getting a game refund. 😂
I wish I didn’t delete 2021 off the ps5 and hate and ashamed off myself for daring to dream that CM would do what they once did release a game that was awesome fun from the very first minute off play time and all the hundreds off hours that followedt. For you young people that was TOCA

This is exactly what I do as well. Works well and saves some time.

Any time you inso return to garage or select flying lap. Means simulated laps get added to your parts which means simulated wear which apparently is very this year: I drive all in laps and out laps with fuel set to lean and ers off. Simply cause last year CE wear rate was stupidly high. But this year 3 races 3% wear 🙄

I got really surprised by the fact the CE is not wearing that much now, and that is exactly what should happen as the CE needs to have the best durability as you only have two available during the season.
I've noticed that if you pick flying lap your tyre wear will be a little bit higher than if you do the outlap yourself, and I think that's probably because our AI does the outlap almost has he's doing a flying lap.
